I first heard WotW when I was 10 (2000) and my dad had had the double cassette for the previous two decade. I found it a perfect blend of sadness and scaring and was completely enchanted by it. I recently listened to it all the way through again and it seems to get better every time you listen to it. Congratulations Jeff, you've truly achieved greatness.
the original soundtrack for me is on a level with classic like beethoven, bach etc...epic and unforgetable.you can't get the original here in germany on youtube or anywhere, but now i got 1 part more. i'm this happy...thx dude

i'll always remember 5:09 simply because i watched a very menacing thunderstorm approach in the distance and the music fit perfectly, every sunday i used to sit in the livingroom lights off and listen to this all the way through.. great memories
The top comment by rugbydazz is one of the funniest I have ever read. I must have laughed for at least 20 minutes. I scared me too. I know how he felt. Fantastic production. Thanks Jeff Wayne and thanks to icepicker too.
I remember my big "bruvvas" playing this not long after it came out. I was born in 75 so obviously was little. 4ish maybe. And as many others have said, the "ULLAS" terrified me 😭😭😭😂😂😂. Even now at 44 it's still a little unsettling haha.
If you watched it live, that's why they do with the live show but not like classic Disney, it's a live action/cgi mix, it's ok but could be better, hoping they improve graphics this year to look much more EPIC, but a 2d animated film like classic Disney would be good. But not modern Disney, that would suck.
The book is great as well, but then nearly everything H G Wells wrote was great ie War of The World's,The Invisible Man, The Shape of Things To Come, The Island of Dr Moreau, The Time Machine, The First Men in the Moon etc with only the great French writer Jules Verne in my humble opinion on the same lofty level as this great English writer. The music is perfect but Jeff Wayne had a piece to base his great music on. Best wishes from a sci fi fan.
great album. ULLA is the gaelic word for apples. whenever i hear this i always imagine the martians destroying the earth in their search for apples to make cider
When the oooo --- lars came on i used to crap my pants run out the living room while my mum used to be rolling on the floor creased up .. Happy days lol
I heard this for the first time a couple months ago, and I really thought they were saying "Booohyaaah." o.o I knew it was so out of place, time wise, but that's what I heard. Even now that I know they are saying ULLA, thats still what i hear
No worries sarg. as long as it makes sense & isn't unreadable who cares, we only get one life so stressing over nothing is silly & at the end of the day its only quick messages we are passing, it's not an English Grammar examination lol. Well all the best & i hope you get promoted from sarge to staff/master sargeant depending on the country your from. Adios Amigo !
I kinda hate it when the English make something brilliant and the Americans take it and make a film set in america. But for some reason that gets all the credit and no one remembers the original

When I moved house (due to my neighbours), I played the Martian "ULLA!!" noise from a speaker.
The sound dial was up at max

@rugbydazz this fascinated me when i was little and i loved the artwork book
i remember when i was about 4 my dad used to play it on full blast with me sitting on his knee crying at this! scares me shitless!
tell me this would'nt be absolutely awsome animated.this soundtrack coupled with some serious disneyesque animation.

Thanks for bridging the gap!!

5:49, god that's sick
Ty for the upload...
this seems to have inspired most of daft punks work, it sounds incredibly similar in the later stages of the track.
not necessarily form this particular musical, but there was an ongoing 70's sound they were certainly influenced from.
great album. ULLA is the gaelic word for apples. whenever i hear this i always imagine the martians destroying the earth in their search for apples to make cider
Congratulations. You have just ruined my childhood.¬_¬
You're right there!
P.S. Apologies for my atrocious grammar - I don't know what was going on in my head at the time! Shame we can't edit comments.

SaverOfTheHolyLand , I wouldn’t say that the American film set gets all the credit. The movie nowhere near did the original justice .
War of the worlds vs Alien vs Predator. That...that waoukd probably suck
