Basic things like potatoes, bell peppers, zucchini, strawberries, blueberries, carrots, onion, garlic, ginger, pasta, rice, bread, etc. every time we are shocked at the price… and the tax here in Alabama doesn’t help, since it’s higher than the national average . 😓

@@DeBeard yeah, that’s why we couldn’t believe it either …. We knew that the U.S. was gonna be significantly more expensive, but we weren’t expecting this

@@miajulio1702 tbf i dunt think Birmingham AL. is a place where the cost of living could bring somebody's jaw down according to a cost of living ranking in states…but…oh my lord That's insane.
I was recommended by YT to watch your vlog since i love whippets, and at first place i thought this couple was living in a place around Germany/Holland/Austria, didn't expect you guys from spain…your accent not even close to Spanish speaking regions tbh lol

@@DeBeard I’m so happy you found my video! I am actually German, but my husband and I were stationed in Spain for the past 3 years. Now we’re back in the states and are excited to experience life in the south. Unfortunately Birmingham is a very devided city in terms of wealth. That means that you will either spend a fortune on living in the “fancy” areas of town, or you will have to live in very high crime neighborhoods. Birmingham is actually in the top 3 most dangerous cities in the U.S. with lots of gun violence, etc.
so I find it very hard to generalize the cost of living here. Since we live in a very nice neighborhood, we have to pay the premium for it too.
