I think a whole segment on how to use different leathers would be great would like to see some projects with exotics like snakeskin, ostrich leg, lizard, kangaroo, etc.
Thanks for this, so so helpful! I was thinking about starting a new project for a bag for the missus and I had seen the design and look of a bag I was going to copy but had no idea what type of leather it was. Your video has helped immensely :)
I have been stuck designing a handle for a box wrapped in milled with inlay. I didn't have more of the leather to use but I do have suede in almost same shade and nice veg tan. . Thank you so much for the inspiration.. great video and great information consolidated.
Yes, Chuck, great video! Very informative, I learned some things! BTW, I've wanted to use the name "The Leather Element" ever since I heard it, Great name! Keep up the good work!
I have been told/heard that one should not use chrome tanned against the skin for prolonged periods of time lest the chrome (a heavy metal) absorb into your body. Can you address this either in comments or a separate video?
Great vid!! Have question?? Making a veg or Latigo pistol rigging, and if you want to , wet form it, what would be best for the liner, since it'll be going thru wet forming/ moulding?? Thanks
What cut of leather would be good for making a glove compartment for a Harley Davidson. It has to withstand harsh elements (lots of rain in Washington State). The project size is 10 X 14 inch. Client is requesting mahogany stain/dye.
We would recommend either harness leather or latigo. These types of leathers are tanned with added tallows and oils for equine products that are often used in the elements. Hope that helps!
You can add stamps and makers marks. We wouldn't recommend carving and tooling it. The Hermann Oak Latigo is 100% veg tanned and might take tooling better.
Hey Chuck! Is there more to the differences between sole leather and regular veg tan than the thickness? In other words, is sole leather tanned to make it tougher than other veg tan of the same weights? Thanks!
Is it possible to show how to cut laces? I use a lot of boot laces in my craft and trying to determine it is more cost effective to cut my own or continue to by them by the piece or foot.
@@WeaverLeatherSupply Thank You so much!!!! I must have missed this one. The colors available are amazing with the suede and I learned so much from the video
Request for a video: when and how to line a project.

What about waxed canvas? Can we get a leather element on that?
Does Weaver sell the sole bend?
We do! It is not currently on the website because it is priced per pound but if you give us a call, we can get you taken care of!
