This song is an elegy. An elegy is a poem of serious reflection, typically a lament for the dead. In writing this song I tried to call upon compassion and loving kindness toward the living as well, those left to mourn. Those who’s hearts are broken, their souls floating somewhere outside of their bodies trying to unite with their recently passed loved ones. Frozen with grief, struggling to find meaning in anything. Carrying a heavy burden and not knowing where to turn in order to find some relief.
With as much loss as people all over the world have experienced in the past year, I wanted to write a tribute to the people who have died and to pass on some words of comfort to their families. I am hoping this song can spread some healing to people who are in pain. To help them feel a little better. To be reminded that they are not alone. To feel embraced and held in a safe space. I hope for their burden to be lifted even if it is just for the 13 minutes it takes to listen to this song.

Die Lieder sind immer etwas besonderes und das mag ich.
Zdravím vás na Island Markéto Irglová. Poslouchám vás od začátků s Glenem Hansardem. Vaše duety a především hudba k Ones zaznamenala celosvětový ohlas a to bylo skvělé. Vaše řeč na Oscarech. I když není podstatné odkud kdo jsme a pocházíme, tak tenkrát bylo úžasné být Čechem. Za to moc díky. Vždyť nestává se to tak často, aby někdo z Bohemie takto uspěl a potěšil domovinu. A záběry na sál plný těch největších hvězd zábavního průmyslu, jak v úžasu poslouchají a následně tleskají tomu co jste sdělila světu, aniž by jste tzv. promovola cokoliv... Já myslím, že upřímnost vždy odzbrojí a tomu kdo je připraven vnímat a komunikovat, tak ho v tom podpoří. No a následně vaše tvorba, kdy jste začala vydávat zcela svá autorská alba, písně. Už jen v jaké společnosti jste se ocitla u ANTI- se mi líbí, ale samozřejmě vaše hudba je to důležité a tou jste mě naprosto uhranula. Říkal jsem si jestli budete pokračovat a hlavně kdy, když o vás delší dobu nebylo slyšet nebo lépe od vás nebylo dlouho nic nového slyšet. No a pak jste vydala Quintessence a Among the Living! Nevím zda jste se sešla s dobou nebo na ní reagujete? Každopádně vaše cítění a převedení do hudby a slov... Něco tak hezkého, křehkého, citlivého a obsahově...promiňte, došla mi slova. Je to nádherné. V době kdy umírají lidé po celém světě a naše rodina, bohužel jako mnoho jiných, přišla o blízké a milované mě Among the Living postrčila zpět do života. Je to první impuls vně rodiny, který mě probral a nasměroval pryč od splínu a lítosti nad ztrátou, která nás postihla. Poprvé v životě jsem zažil co znamená ono knižní, že hudba léčí. Nevěřil bych, kdyby se mi to nestalo. Tak jen to jsem vám chtěl říci. Ani nevím zda se to k vám kdy dostane, tato má slova, ale byl bych moc rád. Třeba vás potěší, tak jako potěšila mě vaše hudba a zpěv. petr "fesha" fenik ml.
