Mentholated Eucholiptus coughdrops, my brother and I still throw that into conversations 38 yrs later, we're still laughing about that one.
Me & my brothers always recited the part about sawing back & forth between our toes & putting tobacco on it! I hate when that happens! Lol!
I hate that! I hate that when that happens!😤
Tabasco! Hurts more.
Eucalyptus.
It's 2022 and this skit is still pure gold. What a brilliant concept---pure genius.
I don't get it. Did the one guy just throw out random nouns for the other guy to improv with?
Chris Guest was such an understated comic, but damn, he was funny.
I remember watching these bits back in the '80's; still as funny today as it was then.
It's really not
Billy Crystal told a story that Guest improvised "the nude" and Crystal was dying inside trying to hold it together...that's why he's laughing at the end of the skit.
Apparently they go back a ways and had a thing going where they would try to crack each other up; rather like Tim Conway on Carol Burnett show.
Yeah, I don't think I ever heard anyone laugh the word nine before.
He almost breaks at 3:20
This was my favorite when I was a kid. This and Jackie Rogers, Jr's. $100,00.00 Jackpot Wad.
Jackie was the best, so crazy! I loved everything that Martin Short did. 😂
Loved jackpot wad, and can't be found on TH-cam for some reason.
@@thelobsterjesus it's on vimeo, I think it was!!
I really wish they would have done a reunion skit a few years later. Pure genius skit
WAS ACTUALY laughing out loud!
I've been saying "i hate it when that happens" since i was a little kid, now i know where it comes from!
I forgot ALL about this one. Billy is an excellent actor.
They did lots of these over the years but I can only find 3 of them on TH-cam. There's one where Billy Crystal says something about a "full grown mountain gorilla" and I remember laughing so hard I fell of the couch as a kid.
"strip down to the nude" is what got to him lol
Billy the night watcher: “I need room to breathe.”
Miracle Max: “That’s not what he said. He distinctly said: ‘To blaaaaaaaaave.’ And as we all know ‘to blave’ means to bluff.”
Valerie: LIARRRR! LIAAAARRRRRRRRR!
@@sherrirush1567 get back, witch!
Fun fact. Christoper Guest starred alongside Billy Crystal in The Princess Bride as the Six-Fingered Man.
@@jonfrench2274: He played Count Ruger, who was the man who killed Inigo Montoya’s father & was in the climactic sword fight with Inigo.
@@jenniferrogers2492 Um, yes. That's what I said. Count Ruger is the six-fingered man...
My friends and I still say that randomly, when some weird thing happens. And giggle. :)
1984? Wow, this is nearly 40 years old
Forgot about this but so funny. Makes me think of me & my co-workers complaining about our aches & pains
After hearing Billy Crystal's story about the sketch, it makes me appreciate this sketch more. :)
where can one find that story?
@@marimblues Lost and Found: SNL in the 80s
One of my favorite of all time.
Watching 2021. My brother and I use to love them
This was brilliant! :-D
Miracle Max and The Six Fingered Man.
Wow!! Exactly!! Miracle Max, and Prince Humperdink's Six Fingered Man. Great observation. 👍
This is such a weird, awkward bit but I love it for some reason.
Has a little bit of a Monty Python feel to it
@@johnconway9882: Yes, it has the slow buildup & outrageous comments as “The Yorkshiremen” sketch.
Love it - still gives me a belly laugh!
Classic and so memorable
I loved these skits. This was by far the best season of SNL.
Billy crystal and Christopher guest
Top top top
Omg I havent seen this since it televused and IV e been using the steak knife up t he nose line ever since god I hate that.
Meat thermometer? Carrot scraper? This routine makes being in the kitchen hilarious
This sketch goes to 11!
two masters at work
I had those skits memorized;
It's strange this was posted in 2013, made back in SNL's golden 80s, yet only have comments dating back to 2020. Unless they legally sorted out some stuff recently with the 80s contracts and now FINALLY can share.. thanks!
Was this the non-Lorne era? Except good?
I love that 80s cast with Crystal, Guest, Hall, Kroeger, Louis-Dreyfus…
They did a music version of this one at some point (I remember it from a Dr. Demento album.)
I think a lot of these "Ya know what I hate" skits are mostly add-libed. My favorite was, Crystal: "The other day I was...", Guest: "Shoving an 8 inch replica of the Statue of Liberty up you nose?", Crystal, "Yeah, I got it way up in there... I hate when that happens."
I think of this series of sketches occasionally, and every time I do the statue of liberty up the nose is literally the only one I truly recall. Something about that visual is so perfectly memorable to me.
@@arentol7 Me too! I was in NYC a while back. Off of Times Square there are many street vendors hawking their items... of course at one I saw a 9 inch replica of the Statue of Liberty and just couldn't stop laughing. I told the vendor why I was laughing and he knew the sketch too, verbatim. He knocked off a buck on a purchase without even haggling, I bought a 3 inch die cast version for about $4.00. I could have gotten it for less, but it wasn't a budget breaker and it was decent quality... I have it somewhere.
Actually:
I only got it up to about...
The 34th floor?
Yeah, so then I hit it with one of those...
@@michaelclark9762One of those things you shake it and it snows inside?
@@michaelclark9762ball peen hammers?
Mick Foley watched 2:50 and it gave him an idea for a career.
Just noticed, they don't seem to be looking at cue cards at all.
consummate professionals! They are also masters of improv comedy!
Did you bother to watch the sketch or just decide whether or not they're doing their job right?
how did they keep a straight face the whole time?
'almost' the whole time ..... Until Crystal lost it near the end !
I think it was the first time I seen this one all the way to the end 😂 They almost lose character.
Do You Know What I Hate?: Everithing!!, muf!
THE NUDE! LMAO!
If I remember correctly that endeint that sketch prematurely cause Crystal broke at the "in the nude" comment which he had asked Guest not to say for fear of losing it.
Actually, these skits bring back bad memories for me. I keep remembering this one time when I was in my basement and I took one of those............
cheese - straighteners ?
@@johnmcclintock8004 Yeah! That's it. And I just started flaying my skin off of my forearm. It really hurt! But not as much as it did later when I dipped it in.... um...
@@barnabascee1889 lenoleum jelly ?
@@DuDEwithAGuN No... What was it? Oh yeah! A vat of battery acid. Boy! Talk about "getting a skin peal"! That really hurt. I hate it when I do that!
@@barnabascee1889but you know what I hate? I get one of those…
He almost made it...
Much funnier than the new stuff :D
'then i strip down to da nude' ....i love American English
Okay, were they improvising on the names of the utensils?
The whole thing.
@@michaelclark9762 @Michael Clark I read where these two would always try to crack each other up to the point if breaking character.
Zero cue cards!
Hahahaha
Those flags on their uniforms are on backwards, should be switched with the patch on the other side.
they were funny
Back in the day when SNL was actually funny with talented performers
How old are you?
This show came out many seasons after the 1st season. the other common thing folks say is the first and 2nd season was the only funny seasons. So, thanks for continuing the tradition of complaining instead of just laughing.
James Austin Johnson, a newer cast member, is brilliant. I think you would like him if you liked this sketch.
@@BillCollins0707 last time I watched the early seasons it didn't age well to me - plus maybe it's too sad watching Belushi and Gilda now
I didn't get a single joke
Who's the guy on the left??
Christopher Guest, from Spinal Tap and also Jamie Lee Curtis' husband. I think I'm probably wrong about that.
@@barbarahecht4617 Correct all the way!
Snl space ship
This. This was back when SNL had some of the best comics...nowadays is just garbage.
How old are you?
@@manueldg5177 Old enough to know better and too young to care...
Police in the closet
An unusually funny skit from a bad era for SNL.
The flag patches on their right arms are backwards. Stars always face towards the front.
that is by no means a universal standard on non-military uniforms
When SNL was funny!
Back when SNL was a comedy show...
I miss when SNL was funny and about comedy. The new show is unwatchable.
Sometimes. You certainly must love Kate McKinnon?
The show is the same subject matter it was on day one. Your criticism is tired.
@@StarWarsMoments no, it isn't...not even close.
In the beginning it was funny and edgy and open to offending everyone and anyone. That is not the case these days.
But, if you enjoy it, right on.
I don't. And I miss the comedy show it was.
@@bluecollarrealestate2826: Don’t you remember what they did to Gerald Ford?
@@jenniferrogers2492 Yes, but they also took equal aim at Jimmy Carter, then Ronald Reagan, and later on Bill & Hillary Clinton, along with both Republican and Democrat Senators and Representatives. It's a bit more one-sided these days, and it feels more like a series of lectures than comedy sketches.
This is so stupid
