    The best mechanism on the internet. I must have looked at a dozen options and thought up a dozen more, but this one was it. Cheers for the share. Now, if only mine had come out as elegant lol.

    I did your mechanism and it came out great. I had purchased a cajón 2 years ago with no snare. It was not an option. So I added one using your method. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

    I just did this to my own cajon.
    Sounds way way better.
    Thanks for sharing, legend! 😁

    Put this in my "view later" list of saved videos... Wow Steve... aside from appreciating the video itself... I'm looking at how much we've changed since then.

    Love the small switch design. Think I'll use a car door lock as a fancy switch.

    A neat modification, I was looking at how to make the snare "turn on or off" and yours is a great method.

    hi Steve, Your brilliant design has just reached the UK!! I made the adjustable snare mod to my Cajon together with the screws lower down too. I had to tweak the slot in the ply with a flared bracing as my sides were only 10-11mm thick. But what a great sound now. transformed! Thanks Steve.

    Little suggestion. Maybe put a piece of leather or rubber on the bar that stops the snare so it doesn't make a noise when you shut it off don't want that sound to be part of the performance lol I like the simplicity of the shut off though right in the front you don't even have to think about it just on or off in the middle of playing. I love it

    • @steveregnier7317
      @steveregnier7317 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I screw in a small piece of wood that the snares rest on, so they don't shake around when turned off. Cheers!

    I noticed that the screws on the skin don't go all the way to the top. Does the lack of screws all the way around help the sound? Thanks for the video!

    • @littleiglooprod
      @littleiglooprod  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Rick Ivey ! yeh the top screws are left out so the corners of the skin will stick up a bit. That way when you hit the top it gives it a nice ‘slap/snap’ when you play ;)

    Hi steve , the snare Does the length have anything to do with the sound?

    • @steveregnier7317
      @steveregnier7317 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wei T it makes a difference how close to the top of the drum the end of the snares reach.... and yes the length also affects it. Shorter is a more milder sound, and too long can make the snares rattle too much... depends what you're looking for in sound.
