Why would that be illegal in Europe? If they sell lucky charms there, I'm sure there are ads about it. One major difference is that TV started out a government service in most European countries, and commercial stations came later. Whereas here, it was commercial stations first.
I would imagine that, like with PBS, there isn't much advertising on the BBC. 🙂

What you find in Walmart veggie and fruit wise is never "Fresh" yeah they look fresh and are fine to eat but truely if you want fresh fruits and veggies you get them in local farmer markets, or on the farms themselves or if you are inclined you can also easily grow them. There may be more side of the road fresh veggie and fruits where I am in the South Eastern section but the difference from the store bought is night and day.

Walmart gets a lot of flak, usually from snobs who buy $15 coffee at Starbuck's. I shop at the local Kroger, as it's literally down the street. When I still had a car there's a Walmart and a Meijer's only a few miles away. My favorite was Biggs before they closed down.

I'm a Walmart mom! My daughter has been working at a smaller Walmart "neighborhood market" for about six months now and she loves her job. The smaller market stores are just regular grocery shops without the clothes/homewares/etc. that you see in the big store. They do have a lot of workers with "special accommodations" as they put it. At least a dozen of her co-workers are autistic and there are a quite a few elderly workers. They treat her well as an autistic employee but they also recognize that autistic people can have razor sharp focus and it does help that the government gives them money to "train" people who need accommodations. They only go so far though. If you can't keep up they'll find a reason to fire let you go or cut your hours so much you quit. My daughter likes the work but honestly from my perspective workers are treated like crap by the company. One of her co-workers who has been there for years was just fired a few weeks ago because she took too long for bereavement when her dad died and she had to travel to see him. How can you fire someone for that? A company that's so big they forget their workers are humans. I have seen a lot of stories like this about Walmart but when my daughter started working there it really hit home how terribly they're treated both by the company and many of the customers who think every Walmart worker is their personal shopper.
Yes anyone can use the "mobility carts". It's against the law to even ask customers if they're disabled. So yeah a lot of times you'll see teens testing them out. They do have plenty though so if someone usually needs one they're available. Since they go so slow most people who could walk would decide it's not worth the effort. You can just lean on your trolley I MEAN CART! :)
They will never, ever accept Apple Pay because they have their own program, Walmart Pay. You use it just like Apple Pay but you go through the Walmart app. Also a lot of merchants in the US refuse to allow Apple Pay. Maybe they charge companies more for their service. I have no idea but I know it's rare to find a retail or grocery store that accepts it.

They check every receipt at Costco in part because it is in the membership agreement. Stores like Walmart CANNOT require you to show your receipt. If they force the issue, they can be sued as it is false arrest, or illegal detainment. The only time they can legally stop a person is outside the store and they have to have proof that something was stolen. They can't just suspect it, they have to have absolute proof. The law is clear on this.

Walmarts differ from store to store and region to region. Some check receipts regularly, and some don't check receipts at all. Despite a huge variety, people become selective (like me) and generally buy the same products month after month. As for HUGE quantites of certain products, people who own restaurants and people who run small kitchens buy them, because they have to serve many customers. They also come in handy if you want to have a big picnic or barbeque for family and friends. Two shopping carts I avoid are "flat tire" carts that make a clacking sound, and "wobbly" carts that tend to steer in one direction. I also like Twinkies and Pop Tarts and sugary cereal, but I force myself to avoid them and buy fruit instead. I buy them once in a great while as a treat. People who make a steady diet of them are probably the same people who buy those diet products you were talking about so many of them. I mainly shop Walmart to save money. I have seen time and time again that if another major grocery store places an item on sale, that same item in Walmart is still cheaper.

When I lived in Arkansas where Walmart is headquartered, I knew a guy who worked on the physical security team for Walmart executives. He traveled with them internationally, guarding them against kidnappers and other threats. (His personal vehicle in the states was a yellow Hummer!) I also knew a young man who worked in Walmart’s internet security division. After college, my daughter interned as a Walmart accountant for 6 months in Bentonville, AR. She was allowed to speak only in vague terms about the security measures where she worked, but suffice it to say that as the world’s largest company today, Walmart is a rich target for the unscrupulous. Checking receipts is but the tip of the iceberg. BTY, I never had that happen to me until our politicians started defunding the police and defending the criminal.

I used to work at a grocery store that had the coin-lock carts - I was already familiar because of having shopped at Aldi, but DAMN if the general public didn’t freak the hell out thinking we were trying to CHARGE them for using a cart… even when I explained the concept! 🙄😐
We ended up keeping plastic tokens of the correct size at the service desk, and hand them out to the Karens to keep so that they’d shut up about “this cart scam” 😂

It's weird to me how some Aldi shoppers can't figure out how to keep one or two quarters in the ashtray or console of each of their vehicles. lol.

It's generally looked down upon if someone uses a motorized cart when they don't actually need it. Those are meant to be reserved for people with disabilities or injuries, the elderly, etc. Not an official rule, but certainly an unwritten one.

My Walmart don't have a slot for coins so you can get a cart/trolley. Nor is there an associate/employee in every aisle.
A "crock" actually refers to a cooking pot usually made out of stoneware instead of metal. Years ago, farmers used to churn their own butter and they'd put the whey in huge crocks then used a wooden pole to keep the whey from hardening too quick as they dipped the pole in and out of the crock.

ALLLLLLLLLL of the trollies are noisy. My local Kroger not only has ones that sound like galloping horses, but if you have something in your basket you missed scanning, the floor going out magnetizes to hold you until someone comes to help (there are trollies that trip the system on general principle, as well).

For the motorized carts: yes anyone can take them, but it's expected that you not take one if you don't need one. They are there for the disabled, people with mobility issues, anyone with an injury or that just had surgery, and anyone that might have a hard time walking around a store as big as Walmart.

Diane, if you're in the South you can also call the shopping trolley a buggy. I don't think I remember many people calling them carts until the early 2000s.

I've never heard of a shopping cart referred regularly (or ever) as a buggy, and I live in the south. They've always been called carts, even way before 2000. Were you born in the 90s?

@@spankynater4242 Lol, no, I'm an even older model. Born in the 80s. I can remember talking to people who were born in the 1890s and whose parents had lived through the War Between the States. Hell, I'm old enough to catch myself grumbling about "those dang kids don't do things the way we did!"😅

I’ve been working for Walmart now for 16 years. I’ve been to several stores. And I usually work overnight. But the first store I worked at, we actually had an overnight stocker that had no legs! He got around on a skateboard around the store.

Next visit, please, please find a Wegmans. :) Hopefully in Rochester (Pittsford), Buffalo (Transit Rd), Syracuse (DeWitt), or Binghamton (Johnson City)... but any of their stores would be OK as they are also in Boston, DC, Baltimore, Philly, NJ, Raleigh, and NYC... But their large stores in their home markets are better IMHO. :)

Wal-Mart has three classes, discount department stores, grocery stores & hypermarkets (both department store and grocery together in the same store). Safeway is a supermarket. Wal-Mart can have a supermarket as a department.

Larger conveyor belts more recent since we have to put all our food up there to ring up at the till ourselves. Self serve tills suck. When we were growing up we had a cashier and a bagger at each till. So they did everything for you.

An Irish Lass that has to buy Lucky Charms, truly funny. I'm sure you figured this out but I'll say it anyway. Food in stores have no sales tax unless it is prepared like a sub/club sandwich, things like that. It baffles me how all Europeans are in awe concerning our cereal aisles.
    I enjoyed your video. 5/5⭐
