"This is the group I was waiting for" is exactly what dawned on me while watching their debut stage and listening their album. They are literally the complete package, with no minors in the group, and a company that is willing to bet everything on them. It probably helps that their creative director is a former trainee herself who recruited most of the members through being friends and having a vision for them

I have the same concern for Belle. But I'm grateful that Haneul and Natty are there because, though they many not be as skilled as Belle, they also can hit high notes and can help relieve some of that stress from her.
Don’t forget that Haneul shared a high note with Belle plus she’s the lead vocalist.

That’s why idols should vocal train more no matter how great they are. Not only can they improve but also learn healthier techniques in the long run. Even top-notch vocalists like Chen do further training
I'm really hoping that Kiss of Life doesn't become another "underrated masterpiece" like Purple Kiss or Craxy. It seems to me that a lot of groups filled with talent often get looked over because they're not in a big company or haven't had that fluke viral moment that draws eyes on them. Recently we've seen groups like Dreamcatcher and (G)I-DLE claw away from the "underrated" category to being mainstream and I think that's a good thing. As much as I love LE SSERAFIM and IVE, we can use more talent-heavy groups like Kiss of Life pushing the industry forward.
Gidle, kiss of life, purple kiss, dreamcatcher all are my top 4 girl groups. And I agree with purple kiss it was so sad to witness trough. And memem was actually a good song.

@@mariapiccioni5974 Yeah. I think you and I were there when as fans of Dreamcatcher and (G)I-DLE we were so upset that no one was taking them seriously. And you can argue that (G)I-DLE was more or less on the cusp of being "great" as all the big groups knew them, they won awards, and they made waves, but the mainstream K-pop fans were barely aware of them somehow. I think Dreamcatcher was even less then this because they weren't winning awards (even though they very much should have been - Deja vu anyone?). BUT yeah, I think Tomboy just hit at the right time, when the industry was kinda done with the same sound. And because Tomboy was a more of a rock sound perhaps people noticed there was this whole group who did a pop/rock music like that. I won't say that Tomboy made Dreamcatcher, but I do think it played a part. I also think that TWICE helped (G)I-DLE during Tomboy as well. They took the time to do several dance practices back before EVERYONE did them. My theory is that ONCE liked what they heard and checked (G)I-DLE out and the group grew from there. Those are just theories though. Maybe it's BS, but I have to think that these groups somewhat helped each other in some small way.
IVE is from Starship which isn't that big an agency, but they did have iz*one popularity. However, the reason they are so popular now is because of their songs and contreversies. So techinically they didn't come from a large company.
What I hope for them, is for them to bring HARMONIES to K-Pop. They all have great vocal abilities in their own rights. Like they would devour a song with harmonies.
Cause we don‘t have that group in K-Pop right now. The only recent girlgroup to have harmonies is FLO but they‘re a British r&b group but none for K-Pop..

Belle would take the upper part, since she’s pretty comfortable in that rage.
Haneul would take the lower part, since she‘s pretty good in that era and not really comfortable or confident in the higher era part of her voice.
Natty would either take the middle part you know, or the do the melody part.
Or she‘d sing in unison with Julie.
Julie would probably sing in unison with Natty or do the middle part while Natty sings the melody.
Tell me if that makes sense or how you‘d think what parts they‘d take in harmonies

ik theyre not rlly kpop but xg has rlly good harmonizations esp in their newest song winter without you. they sang it for first take and the kpop live band show and u can rlly hear their harmonies!! i recommend u check them out if u like harmonies

@@aintnootherfan I really admire Belle's ambition. You can tell she has so much fire as an idol, and wants to put out as much of her capabilities as possible. From having the highest energy on variety shows to over-dieting predebut to all those high notes, she can do whatever she puts her mind to so it seems like she doesn't know her limits yet. She's very young and early in her career, I'm sure that with time she'll learn her balance. I hope that it doesn't take health issues or burnout for her to realise that she doesn't need to over-prove her skills
right she sounds so great but i can tell she strains herself somewhat often when belting her high notes which makes me a bit nervous for her future vocal health
They are truly here to revive the K-Pop scene just as their name suggests
What new do they bring? Also they are not even famous. So they can’t revive the kpop scene. Someone like BTS and Blackpink can revive, but not some obscene group with 17 fans that are mostly their own family and some delusional people like you. Kpop fans really ruin ever phrase and word. «Revive the kpop scene» don’t think you even know what it means.

When I looked at the song details I found that kiss of life members have songwriting credits for almost every song. Including choreographing the title song. Kiss of Life's abilities are amazing.
I said it MANY TIMES that I like belle's vocals but the idol life is one that many times does NOT leave room to work on the voice and keep it healthy that's why many idols regress vocally in kpop (I would love a video on that btw) so I hope they don't make her do that every comeback

Kiss of life and Nmixx should be THE standard of girl groups. Not just bc they can sing, but they are groups that are overflowing with talent. Stage presence, dance and rap. I hope companies stop focusing on visuals only and debuting dozens who aren't ready to be idols.
While I'm a Nswer, I do respect some other K-pop girl groups, if they sing really well and give a great performance. Kiss of Life is one of very few such groups. I sincerely hope that NMIXX, as well as Kiss of Life, fly higher. They are genuine.
Exactly, some of the only groups I fully stan are NMIXX, kiss of life, and xg. Kiss of life’s live vocals obviously don’t compare to NMIXX’s, but it really doesn’t bother me because they almost always sing live, and therefor are always improving. I hope both groups become huge

People strive for organic over chemicals in food, but they don't do the same for what they listen to, even though there's no cost difference in listening to music.

For me they’re a perfect group: they have vocals, they have rap, they have dance, stage presence and passion for music. Every member is unique and suitable for the group (and also I love groups with less members, that’s just my personal)

Their music and vocals with their performances give off MAMAMOO vibes (three top tier vocalists and a top tier rapper). I'm also glad there's someone who knows that Batter up is underwhelming

came back here to let you know that Julie, Natty, and Haneul actually mentioned that they started taking vocal lessons because they don’t want to fall behind Belle. I think this is great and we’ll only see and hear them improve.
I think Julie has potential and I especially love her unique and raspy tone. After watching her Christmas cover, I’d wish she’d develop some vibrato at least.
Also Natty has a great rnb tone but I noticed that she’s not as good when she’s dancing and singing. She isn’t as stable and runs out of breath which is understandable. But it’s really noticeable because she does really well vocally when she’s not focusing on dancing.
Haneul is great too, but I think she needs to be confident in her voice. After watching the recording behind the scenes, it’s pretty clear that she’s not too secure in her singing. I think once she builds up her confidence, she’ll be able to improve her skills as a whole.
Nobody Knows could be an unreleased Mary J Blige or Janet Jackson song, it's SO unique for the scene

What i love the most is that their maknae, Haneul, had an amazing improvement in one of the latest stages they did, not that the was bad, shes a vocalist for a reason but she actually puts the effort, just like Julie, she def got the taste and flavor in Nobody Knows, bout her rap, no comment, she's the YG actual treasure
I've been trying to find a girl group to follow like I follow Blackpink, and Kiss of Life is the only one that got me. Maybe it's the mature concept, the hip hop, the confidence. One of the best debuts ever. The strategy of releasing the solos before the title track and creating the storyline I thought was brilliant.
Having very distinct members, with distinct voices and distinct personalities is essential. They got me even more with their live performances, because they have stage presence, it's one of the most important things to me.
in belle's lee mujin video, she explained how kiss of life is like cpr to the kpop scene, but not like they're reviving a dead kpop scene. i know she was trying to be mindful with her words, but i really do think they're here to revive a saturated kpop scene that needs something fresh and energetic again. there's a reason why so many people tuned in for shh and their recent fire cover. they sing live in most performances that many kpop groups don't even do anymore, on music shows and festivals. they're not just about aesthetics, looking pretty, or dance perfs, they're here to showcase a whole grand performance to wow the crowd with their vocals, energy and enthusiasm on stage.
I'm 12 and i'm training to be a singer and oh my god they inspire me SOOOO much. I even ordered a kiof album for my birthday to keep the photocard as a lucky charm (my bias is Belle but I don't mind if i don't get another member's photocard cuz they're all amazing). I love them so much, their energy and synergy on stage is exactly what i wanna do my best friends when i'll be older, the way they sing, their concept, their outfits.. i have to say this : i'm the biggest kissy !

some ppl in the comments are downplaying belle too much lmao. her supported higher range may not be the best, but she knows how to use her voice so well. as challenging as kiof’s songs are, they don’t even showcase the best of her vocal ability, and that’s crazy to me. she has such a unique musicality rarely seen in kpop vocalists which i guess comes with being a composer. idk her predebut song venus and higher just shows her off so much more, first time i heard it i thought it was ariana but its still distinctly her because she had a thicker voice (?) in a sense, especially when she hits high notes there.
comparing her to 4th gen main vocalists is pretty hard for me, just because stylistically she’s very different in a sense, especially lily and ningning. hitting the notes with ease technique wise, lily for sure is unbeatable but then belle has a better musicality so far in what ive seen. like her dynamics, use of vibrato, coming up with adlibs, harmonies, even the way her vowels sound adjust depending on what type of song she’s singing (like in kpop her voice is obv very pop, she kinda slurs over the words sometimes, but when she sings ballads her vowels are more open. like in a way lily sings consistently but belle is more dynamic

I’m so happy the girls are getting recognized for their talents ! Also their artistic director is Lee Hae In a former produce 101 and idol school participant, so I feel she understands better what works with the girls and what doesn’t since she experienced being on stage too.

Love that you are indirectly saying that itzy, everglow, and le serrafim songs are technically and lyrically beneath KIOF's vocal potential and prowess. Most youtubers and commenters say "oh they are better than most" but NEVER specify which girl groups because they are just fishing for likes or afraid to be hated, which is honestly safe and a bit weak.

Lia has way prettier voice then whole of Kiss Life. Kiss Life have generic sounding voices, while Lia has an unique voice. I can just listen to artists from my country with similiar music and voice as Kiss Life, while Everglow, Itzy and Le Sserafim makes unique music and stays true to kpop and don’t copy western trends unlike Kiss Life. Also Lia and Yunjin are better then Kiss Life vocalists. However Le Sserafim have weak links like Kazuha and Sakura have weaker vocals then Kiss Life, but Yunjin can outsing Kiss Life.

thanks for the video. as a big fan of kiss of life, i am so happy to see more and more ppl get exposure to them. all 4 girls are very well rounded, as in the video, even though Julie is not a great vocalist, she does not pull the rest of the group down. None of the girls seems like the lack any aspect of being an idol, all are at least proficient in singing, rapping and dancing, the most impressive aspect of kiss of life is the ability and desire to perform and sing live. yes, like all other kpop groups, when they perform, there is backtracking. But unlike many other groups (esp 4th gen gg), the volume of the back tracking is kept to a minimal. the back tracking is there just to help support and enhance their voices and not carry the performances. I cant wait for them to start touring and based on interviews they have done, the girls of Kiss of Life goal is to go on a world tour.
They really give off 3rd gen to me for some reason. I’m so excited to say that I was a kiof stan from DAY 1!! I noticed they’re becoming more popular and that really makes me happy
Belle's father is a famous Korean vocalist, and I think it definitely shows, or sounds, that she has had a musical upbringing, especially for her age. And then there's also the crazy fact that she was working as a songwriter for other groups before debuting and is also doing so in KIOL. She's a vocalist I can definitely see improving as well, and that's always a good thing for an entire team. Considering how few vocal lessons most agencies give even to their main vocalists, oftentimes an idol's best vocal coach is their group's main or strongest vocalist.
I also hope that they‘re gonna release studio albums instead of 2-3 EPs a year. They only released 9 songs as a group and are already one of the best groups in K-Pop. Again, their vocal abilities are outstanding. And I would just love to see them releasing full length album with proper roll outs and promotion

Kiss of Life has been such an exciting group to come across. It rare that I am the kpop community as a whole agree on what songs are good, and KOL is SO GOOD. The music is exciting and different. The fact that they debuted last year and already went to an award show this season speaks volumes of their star potential. I really hope they have a good and long career.

Now that Mamamoo is slowing down after dominating their era, I think KoL will move in and take their position as the industry's vocal power group. Mamamoo didn't really pop off until their 4th single, so I won't be surprised if it takes KoL a year to get their first record shattering hit. They have everything they need to be the next big thing, so I'm confident that they will rise to the top!
The audacity! MAMAMOO will always be the vocal queens of K-pop. Don’t set these rookies up for failure.

Ok, call me crazy, but I think Haneul sounds like NingNing! I haven’t seen anyone else compare them but especially in their most recent comeback I can tell when Haneul is singing because my brain first registers it as NingNing haha

Absolutely love the vocals this group brings to live stages. They all have their own personal flare but sound very cohesive.
The name suggests they are here to revitalise the K-Pop scene & they were not lying about that!

Kiss of Life makes me happy but its not just them the later end of the 4th generation and the start of the 5th generation are producing such promising and amazing vocalists. It feels like we've finally been heard
tbh i really love talented groups and root for them.
I would root for them if they did not undress every performance and twerk. If people want to see hookers they watch Mia Khalifa and not kpop. Kiss of Life should leave kpop and join the adult industry.

I stopped listening to 4th gen kpop because of the lack of good vocals and nmixx indeed isn't my cup of tea. So I'm excited for what this group will offer.
I never really staned a girl group since CLC but these girls are fire.
The second we heard Belle hit a high note during debut was the moment we knew this group has THE talent. Each member can lowkey do it all. They can all rap, dance and SING!

For me Kiss of Life and NewJeans are new groups that will have a long lasting impact in k pop. Out of ALL the girl groupsmusic I’ve heard in k pop these two girl groups have the best songs This is just my opinion.

I think another point to make on belle is that she writes music. From what I’m aware, she wrote Le serafims villain. If it’s the whole thing or only some parts I have no clue but nonetheless it’s cool to see more great idol singers actually writing.
I am excited about this group! These ladies have amazing vocals! And they do a unique style of music that is fresh!
Belle is also an Ariana Grande fan so I think it’s normal that she sounds like her😭 she’s really good

I am in my late 30s and old enough to remember the explosion in the 90s of R&B girl groups. This group reminds me of those groups. They have that same swagger and vocal ability. I like all the songs they have come out with so far even the solo ones. I would love to see them get an opportunity on a western talk show to perform because I think they will explode over here with the right exposure.

I enjoy your breakdown of singers and their vocal technique but I always wonder how important that really is. Rosé for example, (might be a bad example) so many would prefer to listen to her sing while reading the lyrics of a song on her phone while other main vocalists will hardly get attention even though they are amazing. Is there a reason this happens?
