Accuphase DP450, DP570, DP750 Comparison & Listening test.

Today we're taking a look at the current Accuphase CD and SACD players, the DP-450, DP-570 and DP-750. These are all top of the line players and we take a look at some of the features and differences. We also listen to a few different tracks and offer some of our thoughts.

I listen only to CDs, and I think the DP450 will do just fine what with 4 DA chips. I think the detail will be sublime.

I read on a japanese site (through translator) that dp570 is brighter and more exciting for pop/rock music, while dp450 and also dp750 are more mellow and soft. Based on this I'm leaning toward dp570, what do you think?

What kind of power supply has the DP-450 ? Is it a switch mode or linear? hard to find out information on this.

I have an Accuphase E-4000 integrated and have been thinking about getting a DP-570. I am wonder how the sound signature compares to the bit more affordable Marantz SA-10. Any insights would be very helpful.

I have a customer who traded in an SAKI-Ruby for a DP-570, the difference was huge, not even in the same ball park.
Accuphase is worth the little bit extra and will last a lot longer too.

is the difference from the 450 to 570 the same as the difference from the 570 to the 750?

I wouldn’t say it’s the ‘same’ difference no.
The jump in sound quality from the 450 to the 570 is not as dramatic as the jump from the 570 to the 750.

Exactly mate. I'm well into hi end hifi but some of these prices are eye watering and buying second hand can be tricky for cd players, especially if you can no longer get the parts should it go wrong.

We do sell the DP750 occasionally to customers who are chasing down that ultimate sound, but I thought it worth mentioning Accuphase has fantastic parts and serviceability.
We recently just fixed up a 50 year old pair of Accuphase mono blocks with parts straight from Accuphase Japan. And their products are designed to last roughly 40 years or so.
