I think, unless MonsterArts ups their game and lowers their prices, Hiya is going to put them out of business. This Kong figure is amazing, and so is the Godzilla. I seriously hope they make a Behemoth figure.
I love what Hiya is doing but that’s currently not in the realm of possibility. Hiya only has the Legendary license, to start, and they don’t have the distribution that Bandai does, not to mention the fan base. I can’t wait to see more here, but SHMA isn’t going anywhere.
@ULTRAZILLA! I know exactly what you are saying, but I also know long time collectors who passed on the MonsterArts Mechagodzilla, Hedorah and Ghidorah because of the price, lack of paint and fragile joints. I know, realistically, Hiya isn't going to ruin Bandai, but they are getting a lot of attention.
Great review! I wish that Kong could look upwards more and hold his ax with both hands like the SHMA one can. Hiya's Kong has much better head sculpts than the SHMA version.
I'm glad I got the Godzilla and pre-ordered Rodan and Mothra, but I just can't bring myself to like the sculpt for this one. I just really don't like any of the faces or the way it holds its arms. That coupled with the more limited articulation makes me happy to stick with the SHMA. Plus you can now pick up the (basic) SHMA Kong for basically the exact same price on as the Hiya Kong so it's not even like the Hiya has the SHMA beaten out on pricing.
@@Ultrazilla gotta disagree, these heads look ugly and very "toy-esque". They may look more like the original, but they don't do a good job at it. I'd rather have good looking inaccurate heads than ugly looking "accurate" ones. I would choose the inaccurate SHMA 2014 Godzilla headsculpt over the accurate Neca 2014 every time.
Great video, man. I prefer the articulation and range of the SHMA, but otherwise this version seems to outdo that one in every way. The head sculpts actually look like Kong from the movie, and the paint work seems excellent. Plus his size really compliments Godzilla better IMO. Awesome review, can’t wait to get my figure!
Just an awful figure imo. The lack of articulation with this thing completely ruins it. You can't even put it's arms down all the way to its side for crying out loud. I mean, it visually looks ok but without articulation that can be utilized with any sort of range, there's pretty much nothing you can do with this this figure in terms of dynamic posing which any Kong figure absolutely requires. It's a deal breaker, I won't even consider it. It's NECA all over again. All sculpt/paint. No range of movement with the joints. Bleh. I'll stick to SHMA.

Definitely disagree here on the heads, these heads are vastly superior to the SHMA. The SHMA wasn't even in the ballpark in terms of accuracy.

A first-rate review of King Kong and his awesome l accessories!

Thanks, man! Yeah, the SHMA has better articulation, but this is fine.
Who do y'all think y'all 🤑💰 is on? The Hiya, SHMA (both releases), Art Spirits, or Stylist Series?.
I’m glad you did the review on this fig!!! Now I’m just waiting for bbts to ship mine idk why it’s taking them so long smh
Because it’s not out here yet.
@@Ultrazilla I didn’t know that thanks bro!

He really does look great and the price is way better than the SHMA and he seams every bit as good in comparison, if not better.
