Yep, I was thinking about that but have seen highbacks break with those sträps and dont wanna cut into the carbon. I am now testing an tlt5 tongue that slides in between the innen and outer boot quite nicely.
I'd never have thought about the Olympus Mons for snowboarding but at that altitude I suppose it makes sense, you'll have the rigidity for crampons along with the warmth needed, looks like you'll just need to adapt your riding style when using this setup. Those Petzl crampons are great, but not the usual match for that boot, I'm sure you'll test the combination out plenty of times beforehand though 👍
Yep, am not going to use those crampons actually, just had those randonnee ones in hand to showcase. Im using petzl vasaks as I did in 2019 on Manaslu.
Great stuff and good luck with the expedition! Just a thought I had while watching you talk about the lack of forward rigidity of the boots and the bindings: Plum uses straps from NOW bindings. That brand also makes other ankle straps they call Flipit, they can be flipped so that the larger part of the strap sits on top of your ankle and in front of the shin. Maybe swapping for those could help with forward pressure?
@@laurihilander1294 www.now-snowboarding.com/content/115-binding-tech#straps_designs_link looks like you can buy the asym strap separately. Also I would not hesitate to call plum directly, they’re really helpful and will probably have some thoughts on that.
Thanks dude!
Something like a Spark Strappy Strap could help with power transfer on frontside turns with these boots.
(you'd need to cut slots into the highbacks)

Good luck man and please, keep us updated with your journey and preparation. 8000m it's a huge challenge!
Thanks Michele, I´ll try to keep posting regularly!
