Hossa National Park - 58km of trail running in Hossa
I and Mr. Moilanen decided to take a bit longer outing in Hossa during the last weekend of May 2021. We did set out to run 65km but prioritized bit quality over distance (and we wanted to make the sauna in time!) I have never visited the place before and to be honest, it was a very positive surprise! I knew it is a beautiful place but the quality and quantity of good trails indeed were vast! Highly recommended for all trail runners and mountain bikers.
I wanted to film this vlog with an Insta 360 one X2 just to figure out the pros and cons. Pros; battery life is excellent and the sound quality fair, cons; in close to zero degrees celsius and bit moist conditions the lenses catch a bit of moisture on you get quite a lot of distortion into the footage. In cold blue and low light the device clearly not at its best. For sure lesson to learn with that tool for future, sorry for the poor image quality. Though to be honest, the aim is to do 1080 TH-cam videos for mobile devices and pads, not for big screens etc.

Juho Knuuttila climbing Kultakuume 8a at Haukkavuori Finland

Recently I had an opportunity to do some climbing with my old pal Juho Knuuttila at Haukkavuori crag in southern Finland. During my visit, Juho climbed his first 8a sport route, Kultakuume (eng. What makes this 8a ascent actually quite imp...

Iceclimbing in Abisko during the arctic night. Above arctic circle we do not get much light at any stage of the day and the "greyish" portion of the day just lasts couple hours, other than that it is just darkness. • @laurihilander1294
      @laurihilander1294 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm not that much of an issue with the mosquitos, it was late is in August so not that many around. I have walked, skiied and runned to Halti and back amd for sure if one is fit enough the day trip is doable but requires bit of tools, planning and very good weather forecast. I would not do it running without significant experience with long distance running. The hike would be easiest terms of weather and logistics (as there is trails and huts back and forth) but my favorite for sure is to do this on skies!

    Tän piti olla vaan hyvä video päiväkahvin seuraksi, mutta tästä tuli ihan muuta! Oon miettinyt, että miten yhdistäisi hiihtovaeltamisen ja vapaalaskun, esim tulevalla Kilpisjärven reissulla. Vaellussuksilla laskeminen on mahdotonta ja vapaalasku monoilla ahkion vetäminen on yks via dolorosa. Mutta koska noissa La Sportivan kengissä on tech-siteiden insertit, niin ne jalkaan kun vetää ahkiota, ja sitten kun haluu käydä tempasee vuorelta alas, niin kaivaa ahkiosta laskumonot. Näin pärjäisi yksillä suksilla, vapaalasku suksilla on ihan hyvä vetää ahkiota ja niitä saa nykyään niin järjettömän kevyitä.

      It is the Black Diamond First Shot. To be honest - it aint that handy at the end of the day. Bit heavy, bulky and doesnt actually for that super well as it only works with the steel BD Turbo/Turbo Express screws. But if one is new to abalakovs and wants some re-assurance I for sure can recommend!

    I'd never have thought about the Olympus Mons for snowboarding but at that altitude I suppose it makes sense, you'll have the rigidity for crampons along with the warmth needed, looks like you'll just need to adapt your riding style when using this setup. Those Petzl crampons are great, but not the usual match for that boot, I'm sure you'll test the combination out plenty of times beforehand though 👍

    • @laurihilander1294

    Great stuff and good luck with the expedition! Just a thought I had while watching you talk about the lack of forward rigidity of the boots and the bindings: Plum uses straps from NOW bindings. That brand also makes other ankle straps they call Flipit, they can be flipped so that the larger part of the strap sits on top of your ankle and in front of the shin. Maybe swapping for those could help with forward pressure?
