Seriously got me excited! The 90s and the 80s where almost a renaissance for user interfaces. It will probably be shocking to look at these articles knowing what we know now. Took me back, and now I have a sudden urge to watch 6 year old kids pilot a super robots.
13:13 Koji Igarashi was the writer for the game, and in interviews he implies he got a lot of his ideas from his girlfriend, later wife. When Iga was writing for the game, he visited the office across to visit her as she was working on Rondo of Blood. Iga got a "special thanks" for Rondo. He later married her.
It would be cool to see these issue from the magazine online for everybody to read someday but oh well. I hope you had a blast reading those old Hippon Super! issues :D
Perhaps in one of the issues from 1991 or 1992 there is some information on マジカルパズル・ポピルズ (Magical Puzzle Popils) for Game Gear? I would love to hear more - anything - about that game. I'd also like to see Shmupulations translate the interviews (Mother, Super Mario World)!
Super interesting stuff. I hope you'll perhaps have the time to do a read-through of one or two more interesting ones, it's very fun to see insight of early gaming press so different from the western audiences.
This is amazing, thanks for sharing! Great seeing a Fist of the North Star old game reference, I like that manga. Soul Blazer (feb 1992) great and simple game, I could finally beat it last year. Final Fantasy IV (sep and jul 1991) stupid game, I played it using an emulator in 1999 and I lost my save files. Years later I'd bought a PSP Slim an a copy of the Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection, I was already on the moon when I've have to stop playing because of college and then I lost my copy. Stupid game, I love it. U.N. Squadron is an awesome arcade, later I watched the OVAs, I have yet to read the manga. I saw Valkyrie (jan 1991 26:22), don't you think I didn't, Valkyrie no Densetsu is another game I haven't finished and I really like.
Yes I remember you were talking about Soul Blazer when I was playing Faxanadu! And it seems you had some bitter experiences with FFIV haha! I cannot say that's my favorite FF (which is VI) but still I enjoyed it. U.N. Squadron (called Area 88 in Japan) was pretty popular back then and yes I know Valkyrie no Densetsu and also Valkyrie no Boken (The Adventure of Valkyrie). That was one of the first action-RPG I ever played and I liked it. Good catch on that! That was an interview of the character designer. I hope you'll enjoy the second half too :D
@@RyiSnow Damn, I checked the dates and you played Faxanadu almost two years ago. FFIV is the only FF I ever played. Let's hope there are more juicy bits in the second half.
Congrats on the purchase! And for sharing more with us here.

Yeah things have changed a lot since then. We have internet, smartphone and even VR. We literally live in a sci-fi world for people in 80s.
I loved your previous magazine video! I'm looking forward to seeing the next part, and any videos you do on specific issues.
Glad to hear that and yes I'd love to make this kind of video more :)
Wow, that Virtua Fighter feature looks amazing. I'd love to see more of that, and also the Toshinden feature in the same issue.

Wow I didn't know that. That's actually a nice story and thanks for clarifying his role on the game!

Yes I did! I'm still collecting this magazine... little by little.

A Game Gear game? Interesting. I never owned that device. I will check it and let you know if I find any interesting article.
Anything on Magical Pop'n (1995-SFC)?
I will check it and let you know if I find anything about it.
@@RyiSnow If you do, send it to my gmail, same name as my username.

I will try! I will have to edit the second half first... but will definitely consider making more detailed videos after that :)

I found this Hippon Super Guidebook for Akujamou Dracula:

Cool, thanks for letting me know. I still keep their Wizardry guidebook.
@@RyiSnow Is this it?
