DIANA Decked! A history and top-to-bottom tour of Gota Canal Cruises 92-year old vessel)

- At 92-years young, the 1931-built MS DIANA is actually Gota Canal Cruises youngest ship, operating in tandem with the 1912-built WILHELM TAMM and the 1874-built MS JUNO. These ships operate on cruises varying in length from two to six days. The full voyage begins in either Stockholm or Gothenburg and crosses into the Baltic, through inland lakes and the historic canal, itself.
Like her sisters, the DIANA enjoys protected status from the Swedish government. She has three passenger decks with 25 cabins and a capacity for 50 passengers. Cabins have no AC or bathrooms and life on board is like a trip back in time with no wifi, no televisions and no programmed entertainment. In exchange for lacking these modern creature comforts, cruising on the DIANA is rich in history, culture and joy.
I hope you enjoy this history and top-to-bottom tour of one of the world's oldest and most interesting passenger ships.

Har Dianas ritning, fotat från orginaritningarna 1931. Enda som saknas i filmen. Underbar historia berättelse 😊😊
Hej Håkan. Det skulle vara väldigt intressant att få ta del av de ritningarna. 🙂
Great tour, thank you for this, very informative!!
thanks
Thank you. :)
Beautiful little ship !!
She sure is! Thanks for watching and posting. :)
Love the history you provide. Thank you for the tour. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! I especially appreciate that you watched this video. My coverage of the smaller ships like DIANA and ATHOS doesn't get much traffic, so I'm glad you found this one.
Another fascinating story, well told!
Thanks so much, Chris! She's a remarkable ship. :)
Thank you Peter
Thank you for watching, Ben! :)
Very stylish, nice that this is preserved and used! 👍🏻😀
It is, indeed. So much thought and care has been put into operating these three classics.
What a treat .... thank you Peter ! So wonderful Diana is used and enjoyed. I hope you're able to do more fabulous presentations of such unique floating environments time to time !!
Thank you, Grant! So happy to have you come along virtually on these adventures. Definitely hoping to do more classics. :)
Love a story about history preserved ! Thank you for the wonderful tour of this little cruise vessel. Very unique indeed!! I know you had a wonderful time!

Couldn't have done it without you QuirkyCruise! It is the ultimate Quirkycruise.com experience for those who enjoy smaller, intimate and off-the-beaten track cruises.
Hey Knego
Have you thought about a smaller steamer called Hjejlen. it's more of a ship you visit than one you stay overnight. it's a great little steamer, with great views
I'll have to look her up. Sweden and Norway are filled with all sorts of beautifully restored classics. :)
She isn't the biggest one. But she is beloved in denmark
If you to talk about Riverboats. I’ll give you one, “The Bell of Louisville”.
Love the BELLE! Was at one of her "races" against AMERICAN QUEEN several years ago.
