Thank you for making this video I asked you about. Today is my day one. It just so happens I am completely out of alcohol and I'm in the path of hurricane Milton, so all of the stores will be closed tonight and tomorrow. Seems like the stars are aligned for me to quit. Forever.
I found that if you usually feel like you want a drink around dinner time or whatever your time is, go somewhere, for a walk or shopping, do something to distract yourself like you said. As you get further along, don’t be around people that are drinking. Sometimes you pretty much have to isolate yourself for awhile and just keep busy.
Another great supportive vid. Dumping it out and not having ANY alcohol in the house is not easy but it’s very necessary. I accidentally walked down the booze isle in my grocery store the other day and literally got nauseous. I’m 11 months sober and going back is not even a thought. Collect comic books, go for walks join a gun club learn to draw visit a library just keep busy. Learn your triggers and slowly avoid them it’s a process. Thank you Megan.
Love those ideas!!!!! I’m glad I’m not the only one that enjoy the g un it clubs 😂. Probably offended some 🤷♀️ haha. Getting it out the house and or dumping it is so relieving. I also get nauseated at the thought of it
Hi Meg, had a recent relapse but back on day 2 now. Done your day 1 tips again and will br watching your vids daily again. I can do this@ Thank-you for all you do to help people. 😊
boredom and an idle mind are the enemy of sobriety. I tell my friends... i was so busy w my tasks and working out during #75Hard I didn't gave time to think about drinking... then so tired afterwards ... crawled into bed. Rinse and Repeat. Great advice Meghan ✨✨
100% yes! This video nailed it. If you are watching and want to get sober follow these steps. They are all important but I think the one the really helped is don't focus on alcohol. When I was out there before stopping, my mind had 2 states, a drink in my hand or a drink on my mind. Thats all that consumed me. Cravings go away. Focus on the now and if you have a craving find something to shift your focus and keep busy until it passes. At fist you may need to do it every few hours, every hour, or every 2 minutes, but just do it! You can do it.
I found that on the first day of not drinking i removed myself from the area that i would drink at that time i.e. 2.00pm the kitchen this took me out of the comfort zone for drinking.
I'm going crazy working on my business, alot of catching up to do, let me tell you, as well as my writing and photography hobbies in between. I've been going to AA every day 630am but I kinda over the cult/religious thing, a real turn off, plus I don't have anything in common other than booze, some of them have been going and sober for 20-30yrs 😮😮😮 almost like they're just coming around to show off 😅
@@Soberstrong pretty good but this hurricane is going directly at my friends home and business so I’ve been helping him board them up and I can only imagine there will be bigger problems in the next 24 hours. We have to help out our own right now :-)
Beat this. You got this.
I love your walk talk and the sunny days on which you do them. The way you talk and the advices you give are really helpful.
Aww, thank you so much.
