For exactly a month, the dugout by the stream stood alone in the forest and I had no opportunity to visit it. It's an exciting moment to see my underground house in the wild forest from afar and in my opinion someone came here without me... According to my plans today to make a TERRACE with my own hands, I find it difficult to answer, but the fairy tale continues and the dugout or house underground continues to improve. Question, Alex, when you get an opportunity - what sort of larger animals do you have in the area? Here in Canada we would need to be careful of food storage so we would not attract animals who would come looking for the food they could smell. From raccoons to bears we would need to be very careful to avoid interaction with them. I do enjoy your interaction with the birds and insects and especially love the way you leave them alone and only take videos.
I am an African American woman that has been thoroughly enjoying your videos and envy the courage to live in such a wonderful and beautiful place. Keep up the great work to living a well-balance life.

Oh by the way, how is your hut without insects such as termites? I didn't know what wood you have cut for your use. 'Florida cypress' is a tropical tree that insects NEVER touch.. The tree was declared federally protected years ago, as it became near extinct from development. Our old west coast, beach Florida 2 story home was ALL 'Florida cypress' built in 1930s inside and out with garage. One rare house! The current young owner said if he can not bring up to property code, he was going to tear down BUT SAVE ALL the 'Florida cypress' to haul and build else where. You are genuinely a pleasure to watch building and very talented! Has been fun!

One more comment, about your video skills - I thought I would try to "watch" while doing something else and dividing my attention, but found I couldn't do it. there is something about your videos that commands focus. After rewinding several times to replay a part that I had looked away from, I put other things aside, made a coffee and gave your video my total concentration. you do that good a job that other things must be delayed until I have watched all of what you have given us this week. thank you!

Alex, you might want to consider planting pennyroyal on the roof of the hut and in the disturbed areas around the hut. It is a perennial that will fill in quickly and not require replanting each year. Pennroyal is a natural insect repellent and will help keep the mosquitos and other biting insects away. Some also claim that it will repel rodents, although I've never know it to. The oil derived from pennyroyal is quite toxic to humans and pets, but, in its plant form (green or dried), it poses no hazards. A member of the mint family and native to most of northern Europe and much of Asia, it has for centuries been used in folk medicine and as a culinary herb. Personally, I wouldn't recommend eating it, but it does smell really nice when the evening breezes blow across it.
