Hands down BEST VIDEO EVER!!!! I was moments away from calling a repairman. You saved me. I watched several videos, I have the exact same ice maker, didn’t know I could remove that black line to check buildup from the back. THANK YOU!
Excellent! This is the first video I have found that showed the same darn problem I'm having. So, basically, the water leaking out the back was due to the spout getting frozen?
That was my theory. My ice maker just wants to make ice so I never cut it off. If I do cut the icemaker off, the water freezes and then I have water on the floor. I give the extra ice to my mom or place it in dry spots in the yard.
Thanks Kim. I just bought a GE refrigerator with this ice maker. Your video made me more comfortable with the ice maker if you can be comfortable with an ice maker :-). I just plug mine in and it made a tray advice and spilled it into the pan, but it seems to take a long time to make a tree?
you dont have to remove those little screws just loosen them and slide up the ice maker over the heads and they stay screwed in half way slide the ice maker back on and tighten
One thing for sure if the temp is not lower than like 45 it will not make ice. There is a thermostat against the mold that opens at 45 deg F. That is so it knows it is cold enough to make ice, while filming I believe you had your door open and hence too warm so thinking it was going to fill probably not happen. Glad you got it working
Could you say something about ice level control in this ice maker…. I couldn’t find any information about that … !!!! My ice maker making ice with non stop! …. WHERE IS THE ICE LEVEL CONTROL? I was looking for that for two months and nobody helped me !!!! No information anywhere!! HELP ME PLEASE 🙏!! Just tell me in simple words-- WHERE IS THE ice LEVEL CONTROL? What must to be fixed ? You are my last hope…. So, help me , please…..
Three months later, the ice maker is working perfectly. I have discovered that this ice maker likes to make ice and doesn't respond well to being cut off. When I cut off the ice maker, it tends to freeze up. Therefore, I leave it on and discard ice when the bin gets so full that it stops the icemaker from continually making ice.
Kim take a bow you nailed it best GE electronic ice maker video made and you don't have 1/4 HEX HEAD driver? Do you make house calls. I have all these tools and my ice maker spreader keep getting stuck jammed on fill cup and over flowing on the molders.
You are correct that turning the ice maker OFF while we are away on vacation causes problems. The drawer would get too full despite having the automatic on/off flipper arm. If this happens I should just pull out the top shelf and pull some ice out of the bin. My model is almost identical to yours so many thanks for some great video of the ice making process.

Too many over-engineered electronic parts in something that should be quite simple. Sucks to hear of your troubles, Frosty. I'll stick with my GE side by side I bought used five years ago and has only required a new anger.
Blindly fiddling with an icemaker. Thats not fixing thats guesswork. Hint: if you dont know what you are doing call a repair tech and don't spray WD40 on anything near food storage areas. Or just buy a new or reman icemaker. "i don't seem to have the proper tools." No s--t.
@@KimTownsel You have to ignore some people :) Blindly fiddling with things is fun and how I repair everything and of course I usually screw up the first time or second time but that is how you learn! Get yourself a set of nut drivers, various sizes. They come in handy for all sorts of tasks.
These GE ice makers are the worst. I'm just going to remove it and use old fashion ice trays. Thanks for the video.

I just deployed a video today on how I keep my ice maker from freezing up when away from home.

If you get ice forming in the tube again, the solenoid water valve is leaking and should be replaced. Other than that looks like a successful repair!

Freezer has to be lower than 14 degrees F before ice will be made. Closer to 0 degrees is best.

excellent video...do you know what that + - insignia is for there on the left side??
I do not. It may adjust either the speed or the water fill level. Seems unlikely to control the water level, though.

I don't know but maybe another viewer will let us know.

Yep...icemakers suck. Have a new fridge and its constantly not making ice. Samsung..they know this and no fix as of yet. So avoid Samsung fridges.
