Keep up the good work darling I love your channels the first time that I watch your video and I have subscribed and thank you so much for providing your talk and information I just like watching you cuz I have add two as well and it's kind of cool that we're into the 1940s and also I knit and crochet as well so I'm learning some things from you have a beautiful and blessed day and keep up excellent work. May God bless you and your family.
I think your bolero are lovely and they really are so useful. I dont really have any lace knitting tips except just sticking with, but I know thats hard to push through when you've got other things on your mind and just want a win. My first few lace sweaters were very hard, but I really enjoy lace knitting now. Also I love those 80s cable designs! Very cute
My sweet friend!!! Do not dispare, set aside what you are unsure about and revisit it when you have the loving eyes needed to see what a work of art each one is! I have missed you so, but back from my tiny island I am happily binging all that I couldn't see over the last hand full of months ❤️. Thank you for the inspiration and your videos always feel like a warm cup of tea/ hug/ safe port in a storm😘.
Lovely knits - I love working with bamboo/cotton yarn, it is soft and light, but it does not hold cables all that well as the fabric is...soft and light. Regarding lace edge - I often substitute a CROCHETED edging in situations like this. It comes out lovely and can be done directly onto the piece, so no sewing on later, can be a simple or complicated a design as you like and very forgiving.. And regarding your summer knits - don't forget that summer/autumn blend together in the early part, also if you finish your pieces for Next Summer in advance, you will be well off for all occasions. Love to the cat's memory
I too love vintage clothing and am also "plump-tuous". I c-a-n grade sewing patterns up sizes, but haven't tried to grade a knitting pattern bigger. I'm going to speak to a teacher at the knit shop I take classes at and see if she can help me tackle that. I've gathered a significant amount of vintage knit patterns, so I have plenty to start with. I am no petite flower. My paternal grandmother was 5'10"...my dad was 6'5", I'm 5'11", and my daughter is 6'2"...and I have nephews who are 6'5", 6'6", and 6'7". Unfortunately, I take after my warrior king ancestors...and then I'm dealing with postmenopausal weight gain. Sigh...
I couldn't understand lace (or much of complex knitting in general) until I started learning programming, weirdly. It helped me to see it in patterns/loops/repeats and understand how each row builds on each other, which takes a lot of the counting and intense focus out of it (which I'm terrible at and always skip a bunch of important stuff if I don't understand the /why/ and have to count stitches)
It is so lovely to see you, but I am sorry to hear that things have not been easy for you. I like the dark salmon bolero. I think it looks good...all it needs is to be finished off. I also think the Aran patterns would suit you and your aesthetic. I look forward to whatever direction your channel moves in because I really enjoy your visits. I wish you and Loci all the best.🌷🌿🌞
I love the bolero on you - especially after mentally blocking it in my head.. but if you don't love it then you'll never wear it... but there's no harm in blocking it and then if you still don't love it you can frog and reuse it :)
If you decide to frog the dark coral bolero, it would be lovely in a fall/winter cardigan. I am working on sizing patterns up too. I think doing a swatch is crucial because you need to know the number of stitches per (well I do per inch). Then you have your measurements written down, and you calculate how many stitches you need to make the right measurements. I believe you CAN design a basic 1940s style pattern that fits you, and then adapt the interesting vintage patterns to your basic one. Great plan!
I love all your colour choices, all very pretty. I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to knitting patterns. I love vintage patterns and have good stash. I have a large bust and have to adjust all the vintage patterns to fit. I'm still learning how to do that. So I think your idea to make a basic vintage style pattern to fit larger bust sizes will be in high demand. I love that cream cardigan, it's so flattering on you. Cardigans in general are more flattering than sweaters for on me with my large bust.
Have you tried Amy Appel's Poison Grrls patterns? Like you, I prefer vintage knit styles, but vintage patterns don't fit me and I am far too lazy to grade them up. Poison Grrls patterns come in classic vintage shapes in a wide range of sizes and it would be really easy to take one of their basic pullovers and hack it with some designed elements from the vintage patterns you've been stockpiling.
@@TaraDeighton I have used her beauty shop pullover as a sort of knitting slopper that I change up with different stitches and color work designs. Her patterns are really good about giving directions for fit and her designs have always fit me well, especially when I follow her recommendations for modifications.
I have brought so many knitting lace books over the years and just look at the pretty pictures! 🙈 I still haven’t evolved past berets but might be brave and attempt the “Sinead” pattern, looking for a dark rich green wool but struggling to find any. Much love to you ❤️
It's good to have a goal! The Sinead is quite a straightforward knit and I'm here to assist if you need me! I saw a beautiful dark green wool in Liberty recently! I think it was by Yorkshire Spinners?
Would you say your Sinead ballet wrap cardigan pattern is suitable for beginners? I love your tassle beret pattern and want to start learning to knit sweaters.
That's so lovely to hear you enjoyed the beret pattern! I think if you can do the shaping on the beret, then you can do it on the Sinead! The trickiest bit is the border but I may do a tutorial if that is useful at some point!
Hello dear, I would not undo the bolero. I thought it would look nice, if you knit a long strip and add it as a waistband and tie it together in the front.
Perhaps lace knitting just "isn't for you". It's obvious that there's nothing wrong with your knitting ability, your designs are beautiful. I'm a knitting designer too and almost never touch lace (if I do it's very intuitive) because I find it so difficult in terms of the amount of effort/thinking/counting involved. There are lots of vintage inspired designs that don't involve lace, perhaps concentrate on them to get your confidence back. FWIW I think that bright yarn looks lovely for you.
What do you do with your 'failed' knits? Frog them or save them in case you change your mind?
I think your idea of resizing a blouse sweater of the 1940 is just fabulous! And embrace the bust! Greetings, Conny 🎉

Thank you for all you very wise and kind words! Creating a crochet border is such a good idea!
Revielle was a magagzine which you could get up to the 1980, a bit of a Gossip, a cross between The News of the World and Hello.
Thank you!
crochet the edging trim it will be lovely, save the bolero for next spring or for fall with some lovely fall colors

That sounds amazing ~ I hope your teacher helps with the grading! Let me know how it goes!
The bolero looks absolutely stunning on you - I hope you didn't frog it!
I didn't! I still need to solve the issues and then I'll be enjoying wearing it!
you like pink.
IT IS VERY LOVELY
I think it must be my favourite colour!

Ah that's interesting! I've never thought of knitting patterns as code but they are aren't they! Thank you!
Love the bolero on you, but it does need more short rows so it won't ride up. Your shoulders slope forward a bit. The color is great for your tones. 😊
