It's a lot easier to have poise in the pocket when you know the pass rush is made up of your own team members, who are rushing more as a formality than anything, who aren't going to tackle you, and are definitely not trying to hurt you in any way (and would be in deep trouble if they did). It's basically the complete opposite of what you would actually be facing from real pass rushers in-game.

Um… Arch Manning’s development needs to be STUDIED! This is NOT the same kid from last year’s Spring Game. My word!!!! Good for him. His release is quicker, more compact, and the ball comes out strong. His pocket awareness is Quinn Ewers-esque. His arm seems stronger and more accurate. He threw dime after dime and stole small yardage away with his legs. I argued with a lot of people about how Arch needed to Redshirt his freshman year, how he shouldn’t even sniff the game field until Year 2 if not Year 3, and this is why. His development gives Texas one of the best, if not the best, QB rooms in all of CFB. He played lights out today from the first to last snap, and it wasn’t even him stealing open throws after a defender “sacked” him. His pocket presence had that DL fighting to get near him, and he was delivering dimes ALL game. Good for him! Good for Sark! Good for Texas!!!
I think we have to remember In last year Spring game Arch was an early enrollee True Freshman. He should have still been in high school. It takes real game reps to get used to the speed of College Athletes. Also Arch was playing with 3rd/4th string and walk-ons in that game

Did they? I feel like i saw no secondary. They were getting cooked all day. I didnt see any truly exceptional throws, but his footwork in the pocket is night and day from the reps i saw last year. even when he runs in the pocket you can see his hips are able to get back into that throwing motion quickly. I think he will succeed like getting check down yards for gains because he is enough of a running threat to force a spy. But i think UGA will have no issues against the texas O line.

Arm looks live. I've always been a huge fan of legacy football players. So, I'm rooting for him. A lot of respect for him picking a team with an established QB and also for sticking around. He could have went almost anywhere and been the starter.
We might get to see a significant amount of Arch in a few games where Texas possibly puts the game away early... (of course we probably won't be seeing much of that in the SEC... considering Texas really didn't put that many games away last year in the Big 12.... which is strange considering most of the big 12 was rebuilding and weaker than usual.... and the only contender they played all season was their only loss... and of course it was by their much despised rival... the rival that got robbed by their own in-state little brother, from playing Texas again in the Conference Championship... and the rival who also left the conference with them...) And he became one of the greatest....Arch is tremendously different this year than last, and if we see the same growth, he will be unstoppable. Some dudes hit college at 19, 20, looking 35. Arch looked 18.

Manning as a RS freshman, and Owens as a TRUE freshman, have already showed superior deep ball skills than Ewers in his previous two seasons at Texas.
That’s why y’all won’t be your best this season. Ewers is not better. I watched my huskies dismantle Texas. You can’t just do seniority, it’s about level of play at the end of the season. Ewers is at his peak short of nfl play, manning is barely getting started and is a comp. At seasons end he may be better if he gets all the starts.

That secondary won't be on the field. They are all 2nd and 3rd string.
