      @@PeterC408 it was a pretty good break down of everything, when I took it apart I didn't realize that those were antenna ports on the main board. When I compared the speed and signal strength to my Nokia trash can with 2 external antennas mounted on a pole 15 feet in the air vrs this little thing inside of the build, the inseego preformed much better.

    Thanks for the update! Awesome content as always. BTW these routers are all over eBay now and I was actually considering purchasing one. Now I know why. Ty so much!!! As well I have the same screwdriver set they‘re worth every penny… ❤

      Agreed, if I had to choose between the screwdrivers and the gateway, I'd chose the screwdrivers.

      @@PeterC408 You said something that I found to be quite interesting. You said you didn’t see any improvement with the inseego modem. But because your service is so much faster/better than mine I think it might be worth checking out for the 2 TS9 antenna ports. I only have 4G in my area getting 60 down and 5-8 up. Since eBay’s offering 20% off over Labor Day weekend, it may be a good time to upgrade.… Thanks again for thorough tear-down and transparent communication…

    Gps is being used as a time sync mostly also so they can find you.

    With such a glaring faux pas on T-mobile's part, I think I would have just said "No thanks". Great vids, thanks.

      Yes, sad that they could not meet their market needs with a gateway sooner but it looks like they have finally listened.

    I was so hopeful for this video but I think you were assuming your normal audience is way ahead of my skill level. I would like to learn more about how to improve my FX2000.
    On another note, I worked out a deal with T-mobile and got the FG2000. It's about twice the size but seems much more stable at both receiving and transmitting wifi.
    If you do a breakdown of the FG2000 let me know.

      There are so many other gateways on the market. I have one coming soon that I expect will beat them all. Be sure to favorite the channel. This will be coming soon (Jan 2024)!

    Hi Peter, Did you go ahead with T-Mobile business account and modem? If so what are your opinions on the account, hardware, external antennas, internet speeds, port forwarding and reliability? I may switch. Thanks again for your help.

      The "free" modem did nothing for me. The external ports don't work. That said, I am working with the card in another modem. Static IP is from Chicago and gave me more latency than I had. I am working with my plex server now to see if I can make it tunnel out .

      Hi Peter, Just FYI. I recently bought the Asustor Flashstor 6 FS6706T -6 Bay All-SSD NAS Storage, Network Attached Storage (Diskless). The software available offers a free 3rd party remote access to the NAS and seems to work well. I also like how quiet it is and have it mounted below the TV.

    Hello, i just wanted to mention they have a new model out now that is the FX-3100 and does a vastly better job at things. We have one setup in the office currently

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do the external TS-9 Connectors work? This model had them configured to support frequencies that are not part of TMHI. That was the only reason that I wanted to see this one. I have some really great gateways that cover more bands and aggregate more channels for better speed. You can even band lock and configure for 5G SA. th-cam.com/video/C1o5Np74RdI/w-d-xo.html

    • @Icebeam47
      @Icebeam47 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PeterC408 we are looking into that right now, they are definitely physical ts9 connectors on the back and the unit specifies what frequencies work. Currently we are locked on 1900mhz N25 with the internal antenna.

  • @joshuaprice1535
    @joshuaprice1535 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    did you figure out which connectors matched the n25/71 bands?

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They would definitely be different pins; n25 would be 2100MHz while n71 is 600MHz. Not Ipex connectors, this gets more serious. Not worth the effort. I have reviewed several 3rd party gateways that are better solutions. This one is just not designed for TMOBILE.

  • @markjahan
    @markjahan 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Have you tried the new FX3100? According to my rep you should be able to connect a MIMO 2X2 Antennae to the TS9 connecter under the plastic cover without a tear down.

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You could attach a 4x4 MIMO to this one, it just went to a part of the radio that supported frequencies not supported by T-Mobile. They even promoted this on-line and on the phone. It was just a mismatch of technology. Luckily I have found better gateways that deliver much better performance and cost about the same as a good external antenna. There is no need to get a T-Mobile provided gateway anymore. I wish they would lower the price for people that bring their own equipment.

      Hey there! What gateway has been your favorite so far? I’m on the business plan with a static IP. Have anything that will work for me? I have fx2000 now and it has halved my speeds compared to my previous Arcadia modem (before I had static IP). Any advice is much appreciated.

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BruceSlagle T-Mobile's Static IPs are part of the problem. They are either coming from Chicago, Il or Seattle, Wa neither are appropriate for me. They slowed me down and increased my latency. That said, I have tested a few really good Gateway solutions but it doesn't matter which one I like the best, it depend on your situation. It would be like saying, what is your eyeglass prescription because my vision isn't very good. In this analogy, we are trying to see the Internet. How good is your vision right now? What bands do you receive and how well do you receive them. I have a new gateway coming and I think I will start simple, from this perspective. I could give you the name of my Gateway and Antenna, but it might be serious overkill for you. Thank for the question.

    Did you ever figure out whether you can reroute the internal connectors to attach an external antenna for N71 & N41 ?
    The T-Mobile guy says they have a new Inseego TX3100 coming out any week now, which will have an antenna connection that works.

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I believe that it could be done but due to the fact that some of the connections were "pogo pin" and required that the boards be tightly pressed for contact severely complicated the ease of this upgrade. I had the option of stopping before I went too far or continuing into a expedition that no one would dare follow. Did you see this gateway? th-cam.com/video/HU7TQ97cv9s/w-d-xo.html It costs about the same as a quality 4x4 antenna but is a modem and antenna in one. It gets impressive reception and has excellent band support and even is poised to support IPv6. I am currently working with their engineers to address a few final bugs that I found and documented in this video. It's even $40 today! Prime Big Deal Days

    Aside from this router there's a new one for residential costumers?

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes supposedly but it's a radio and not a pizza. It is made by Arcadian. Which bands does it support? Do the external antennas work this time? Arcadian made the worst firmware I have ever seen. No band locking, no RSRP, no RSRQ, no SiNR. We have to wait and see on that one. I just wanted a static IP with this one.

      It is not bad at all. In fact it is very good, but I like excellent. I was hoping that the TS-9 connectors would allow me to plug in an external antennas and it will not. Those ports are mapped to frequencies that T-Mobile is not using. That said, it is a good free gateway.

    Good video great effort but a total waste ..... I do enjoy your videos and I forward many of them others but why would you do this without a reason??? (click bait for TH-cam $$$ credit) .... its way better when you have a mission to help your audience.... please consider this.....

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dozens of people had asked me how to reassign the antenna ports as I had done with an earlier version on the FX-2000 but this smaller version appears to be much tighter integrated. It was not click bait because I did find the antenna ports and the are IPX4. So it can be done and I have shown folks how to do it but now we would need to get one set of IPX4 to IPX4 wires for one set and IPX4 to IPX for the other set. Will it work and save the day??? Frankly I am not sure, if it is worth the effort because there are many other modems that CAN NOW BE USED... now that I have found the solution of how to liberate the T-Mobile cards and put them wherever we want!!! I have spent hundreds of hours to discover how to move the card that was previously thought unmovable and other just take the solution and reshoot their own version claiming that they have done it. 😲 Do I deserve some views from all the tinkering? I think so as long as it is not fruitless. If I feel that I have wasted my time, I don't even bother filming it. By taking it apart, I did end up buying this $300 modem now 😬💩. Thanks for the note, I will keep it in mind but don't think it was clickbait.

      It pretty much was clickbait. I was hoping to actually know which ipx connectors on the board was for the whole title of the video and probably wouldn't have watched the whole thing if I had known at the beginning that the tear down wasn't going to include which port went to which bands.@@PeterC408
