Feeling same thing can be happen for the indian real estate market.
Currently land n Houses are 10 times higher to their actual coast. You can find Lots of flats and houses unsold from years but their prices doesn't decreases.
From last 10 years except matro cities land and houses prices not increasing.
in addition govt. Started providing affordable housing in prime area at 1/4th price compared to builders.
I am strongly believeng housing and real estate market will crash in near future.

Lehman had a proposal with British Bank Barclays. Had the deal gone through Lehman would have been saved. But Institutional Shareholders rejected the proposals during the meetings. This was a major blow to Lehman

Would like to add one thing to this as I had seen big short movie sometime back that it wasn't just low interest rates but even banks had a big part to play in whole crisis.. Bank were making ton of money on just loan processing and so they got greedyyy with it... not only they were giving loan to people with no clear income to pay there loan back, they would give multiple home loan to same people with no income.. Just to make money on loan processing and other departments.
so yes even when governments tries something for good (giving low interest rate) for its citizen these big corporations they just cant control there greed.

2008 financial crisis was just postponed by Raghunaram Rajan and Manmohan Singh to 2011-12 causing high inflation and political instability in India.
NaMo's rise is also attributable to the same crisis.
