Hedge funds operate in a complex strategy which is unique in itself, and understanding such strategy is quite difficult for a layman, but to make it simple : they take a contrarian bet on different asset classes, for example, they take a long bet on some equities and short bet in futures, in commodities they may be long on precious metals and short on base metals etc 😊

This is exactly same as what happened in Bangalore in early 2000's. The case name is vini vinc shastry, which was a chit fund. At start he was trading and making money but as the money increased, he could not manage the same and followed this same philosophy. I remember seeing in tv when i was in school that people used to give him money standing in que and at times que was bigger than any temple.😂
