I live in Rainbow Beach. The point comes and goes subject to how much northerly wind we get. The outgoing tide from sandy straits gets pushed against the shore during a northerly and undermines it. No doubt I’ll get shot down in flames for saying this 😂
Yep ..Just the tides moving stuff around ....same thing has been happening to the tip of Amity Point on Straddie forever.Why do humans think we have so much power to change nature? We are just a blip in history compared to nature . It will do exactly as it pleases... as it always has and always will .

@@Mr_RPE seriously ? mate the sand displaced by a 4wd drive on an area like that would be a bees dick compared to the many ,many hundreds of thousands of tons of sand that makes up that spit . The ocean gives and it takes away .It is all tides and currents..and bugger all to do with humans driving on the top few inches of sand dunes ....and yes I hate the dickheads who rip up sand dunes but mainly just because they are a danger to other people not the sand.I have watched the tip of Straddie's spit wax and wane massively over 50 years ...all caused by tides as no one drives on it.

Sand shifting! What a muppet, you bogans have no idea. Have you heard of SINK HOLES, the limestone base dissolves and a hole is formed, then fills up quickly with sand from the tidal currents.
0:38 bit of image manipulation here: 2023 the photo is at high tide. 2024 the photo is at low tide. With a tidal range of about 2.5m, 3m on high tide and .5m at low there will be a vast difference to the visual beach.
We'll be joining the barge off the dirt track shortly at this rate. Ps, can we use charcoal to cook (open fire?) on fraser? Where can i find said info in case ranger's hassle me. Thanks & cheers.

We agree! How amazing it is. Same down at Mudlow Rocks, the sand comes and go constantly. Amazing and wonderful.

No…its a sinkhole…..where is the sand going?……..sinkholes rarely happen on the main beach…..

You can use a fully enclosed cooking device with artificial coal (no wood) - 20cm off the ground. No naked flames. Qpws website has all the specs

Yes there has been a couple in recent times.
Look at about 1:40 and you can just make out the area, those holes fill quickly with sand though.
