This was such a great vlog to watch!! All of your behind the table footage interacting with customers was so heart warming 😭 theres just something so special about customer/artist interaction in person, so cute, so sweet! ♡
Also it's so wild seeing the flux in popularity for merchandise and how quickly it happens!! Pins were at an all time high and it seems like it dropped out of nowhere!

You're right about it being a strange experience with sales.
The show for me was like that too, the two biggest things I sold were my pet portraits and my stickers!
Oh! And apparently, PayPal has a card reader now that isn't region locked, so you can accept payments anywhere?!
Something to look into the next time tabling at a US show!
After some time thinking about it, I think I would table again at ECCC as well - and I hope I get to!

I really appreciate these videos. I've always wanted to try doing a table at a con, but never know what to expect.
Me and my fam doing Star Wars Cosplay and the best thing about is the sparkle in the eyes of Children (and adults) when they see e.g. Leia in person ❤ The second best thing is to take the costume off in the evening😅
I only ever went to a small comic-con (the Netherlands 2016 or something) so seeing this video wasso interesting! So cool that over there there is enough room for so many artists (and tattoo artists haha). It sounds exhausting though, but looked very fun :) Also that mothman sticker is perfection

let you know about my best con experience?? it was hanging out with you for a bit behind your table at ECCC in 2018 or 19 back when you were doing twitch streams!!! (I hope I can make it to the next ECCC you come down for, or maybe I'll swing up to a vancouver con sometime! pandemic willing)
4 days is usually the reason I stray away from doing a table at ECCC. Maybe this year or next I'll table. I tip my hat to anyone who can do a 4 day con. Oofta!
Hmm My first “cosplay” was a super low budget femLuffy… xD I hadn’t considered the “play” in cosplay… so I was completely overwhelmed when ppl started to ask me to pose for photos… 🤣 I wanted to run away honestly… Later we did a few couple cosplays with a little more budget… wigs and all… Rintaro Okabe and Kurisu Makise (steins:gate), the Pokemon (trainer class) “Honeymooners”… and later the Pokemon “Fan Family” with our 1 year old son (also in costume oc)… and my favourite cosplay is the last one I did so far… I did Rose Quartz (Steven Universe) when I was 8 months pregnant and sooo large… husband did Greg and our two year old son did Steven… 🥰 a friend even went as Amethyst and it was just sooo precious… 😊💜 (This was in 2018… so yeah… who knows what could’ve been…)

The matching card racks? They are from Clubcard but I think if you search “wooden retail card display” you’ll find similar! I painted it yellow in my last vlog 🌚💞

Sometimes I cosplay behind my artist table sometimes I don't My favorite cosplay is Alice in Wonderland its comfy and simple! Most cons I vend at are great I have done so many in the past lke 15+ years they all kinda blend together now xD

I was wondering, as a Canadian selling at an Amercian con, do you have to pay local sales tax? Or is it a don't ask don't tell kinda situation?
yes, so I do have to pay! some shows you register yourself, but ECCC does it for you, which is helpful. I got a letter in the mail from gov't of WA and I will remit the 10% tax on my sales!

Hey OHK!! It completely depends on the country - and in fact, even the state/part of the country. So unfortunately it's nuanced! I recommend finding vendor communities on FB, Discord, or otherwise, to ask folks one-on-one about your specific travel plans!! 😊😊
Looks like it was a nice overall convention! Do you have any tips about wanting to vend in the states from Canada, and how your process is to go about it?
I am probably not the best person to ask as I only do this one event in the US, but I have a ton of colleagues and friends who do many and have been hoping to do an interview series! I will have to put this question on my list! Thank you!!

I saw your booth there on Friday and took a card with the plan to order stickers online because I had no cash. Now I know for next year. I don’t like to carry cash when I go into the city especially since most vendors have some way to take cards 🥺
omgg so sorry!!! unfortunately the route to take card for a Canadian in the US is tedious, so I didn't go thru with it for just the one show! thank you for finding me online tho!!
