It will take a lot of wear and weather but when this leather really darkens and gathers patina it will be stunning. The "problem" with such well-made sturdy boots is that it can take a long, long time before that level of patina arrives. Nicely done, another excellent review.
As someone who wears PNW boots for work as well as at home, I don’t feel like these are necessarily “appropriating” the style or uniform, just modifying it for a different use case. I wouldn’t buy them personally because of the color and not having a lug sole. That being said, that doesn’t mean that someone who just likes the style, look, and durability wouldn’t want to have a well built, full height, all leather boot that’s better suited for their needs.
If you’re patient and need truly classy boots or shoes especially loafers I highly recommend Winson! They also have more casual items under the name Midas. I had a custom pattern done last year
Well I mean, I get funny looks for my Jim Green ARs that a wear as work boots... People aren't really used to boots that aren't Chelsey boots or zip sided work boots, in my experience...
Wow, that is a nice looking boot. I'd probably would only wear it for casual situations with a set of chinos or selvage jeans. Those boots look like they would patina nicely.
Great review! Wonderful boots. The speed hooks are an issue. Rotating like that is NOT okay. They should choose a different speed hook or method of construction. That would bother me and is just about a deal breaker. Hope they get that corrected. Thanks again for a great review!
Great informative review. Teik, I’m curious about your thoughts on the best value boots for 2024, now that some Indonesian brands have achieved a following and have increased their prices. I believe, for example, that Bordon makes a $700 boot for $409. I recently ordered again from Andres. My Fortis order a month ago was over $500. And is Grant Stone still punching above their cost at roughly $400? Anyway, I’m always interested in who is winning the quality vs. price equation.
Yep, those speedhooks really bother me. Even Grant Stone uses those which turn around. PNW brands use the best that are far sturdier and which Indonesian brings would use em as well.
I would prefer a brown sole, other than that those are really nice. Can‘t imagine how long it takes to handstitch all of that, makes may hands hurt just thinking about it. Can‘t wait to see how the leather will patina over time. Teik, what are your thoughts on boot height - 6 vs 8 inches ? For me, there is just something about a higher boot. It feels more secure for lack of a better word. Really like your videos - greetings from Germany
Nuts to the like button! Where's the LOVE button? Such nice boots reviewed in such an open, honest way. :)

Perfectly stated.
Love your reviews. I hope you consider reviewing the RM Williams Risden
Those are amazing. Never seen anything like these. I would not worry about working those out

Fantastic review! The leather color is stunning. Is this style of boot out of place in Australia? Do you get a lot of looks?

@@lucajames3850 thank you for your perspective. The Jim Green AR are very comfortable especially for standing and walking all day.
Not really seen as work boots here
Wonderful boot explanation. Beautiful Gold Rush Boots.

This style is not exactly my cup of tea, but dang is it well made.
What a beautiful pair. It's gonna be a fantastic patina machine.
Very nice...enjoyed the review.

I think Bordon is solid. Most are reaching the apex of price:quality but I still think Parkhurst and Truman are in the ballpark.

I agree a taller boot looks better but a 6 inch I find more comfortable
Beautiful boots
Thank you my friend
I believe fortis does NOT do Goodyear welt, this if anything is a hand welted boot which is different
@@Booksandboots they do on request, but you’re right, this is hand welted with the carved channel

Wow. I don't know what else to say.

Wait for my long term review and the colour will be totally different!
