@@Smokey5ohh we live in Vegas, which is almost exclusively restricted airspace now to city of LV laws put in place after dummies decided to try and race commercial aircraft with their little FPV drones. My son is 13 with a TRUST cert. He gets LAANCs all the time to fly around our neighborhood. In fact, the primary purpose of the recreational flyer certificate is to educate them on when and how they need an LAANC.
@@vegashikelife9554 i've found that's true for daylight operations but not possible for nighttime ops under recreational flight regulations in controlled airspace
The luma cube lights you feature in the video are lights, but not beacons. Do they qualify for night flying? From a bunch of other videos I've watched, I thought it had to be a white or red beacon (flashing) light visible for 360 degrees. - ?
Hello, depending on the drone, it can take it over the 250g limit. It is definitely something to consider when flying at night. Thank you for the comment!
Did you say you were at Newport Beach? Where's the beach? The last time I was there it was sandy beaches with a boardwalk. Is the boardwalk still there?
⚠️. Great 107 videos…. BUT…. The LumeCube light brackets for the Mavic-2 zoom/pro SUCKS! My bracket came loose and jammed the props with my drone 240’ above a vehicle. Vehicle = hood dented. Drone = in pieces. MANY people have reported the same. LumeCube’s response to me…. “Yeah, we have a problem with bracket attachment failure. We can send you a new bracket” Me = “What about my DRONE”?… They have lost my business forever.
Great video, but I don't see the FAA link for night flight training, is this a hook of some sort or did you just forget? Humm! I see that the owner of this channel and the school has not answered any question asked, unless is another name. That tells me something. Maybe I'll go somewhere else. First impression ha!
Here's a link: www.faa.gov/newsroom/recurrent-training-courses-drone-pilots-available-online Just updated it! FYI: The FAA's website changes constantly. Thanks!
@@altitudeuniversity Well, I guess I'll change my mind about this channel. Good looking out. But is it me or finding info about the recreational night training, not Part 107, is hard to find? If its the ACTS cert might as well take the Part 107 training and test.
Does the cost of the course include the cost of the exam? I'm thinking of getting my part 107 after I get comfortable flying my drone as I'm just a beginner. I just past the Trust exam which I had to take to register the mini 3 pro.
@@altitudeuniversity good to hear, the wifey got it for me as a Christmas gift for my first drone. Luckily have a lot of time on a simulator! Love what you guys are putting out best channel by far! Hopefully DJI will put some updates on the camera feature settings.
So doesn’t a recreational flyer still need to know what kind of air space they’re flying in? What is the expectation for the recreational flyer in this regard without any part 107 cert.
For night flight, depends on your airspace. In uncontrolled, slap on your beacons and you're good. For controlled airspace, go get that p107 unfortunately
So why is the link to the night training taking me to the recurring test for part 107 licenses ? You missed the entire point of the video to try and sell your 107 course ... click bait ?
Hello, and thank you for taking a look at the video. It's not click bait. The recurrent training the FAA offers is where the night training is. The FAA added it to the recurrent training when night flying no longer required a waiver. The FAA's recurrent training is free. Unless you fly crewed aircraft, you'll click on the one that says, "Part 107 Small UAS Recurrent Non-Part 61 Pilots (ALC-677) - Part 107 remote pilot certification holders (regardless of currency) are eligible to take this course." If you use our course, we have all this information as well, plus the addition of quizzes, flashcards, and 5 graded practice exams. We are like you and don't like click bait. The link is the best place to get the required training in night operations if you already have a Part 107. I hope that helps :)
@@DreammoreRealty Thanks for the clarification. Yes, Airmap has closed down. I personally use Aloft now to check on airspace. Check it out, and let me know what you think!
Birds can get in the way of flying your drone, but most of the time they move to other areas. Open areas away from powerlines and trees are usually less attractive to birds and may be the best place to practice these drills. I hope that helps!

Nice video. But Recreational can also request flight in controlled airspace too with LAANC, not Part 107 only
You wrong there

Love the video! Very informative, to the point, and answers the questions simply about flying at night
I'm glad it helped!! 🚀
You should really doublecheck the input levels of your crossover music. Pretty loud.
I’m at a loss. I thought the video was going to be about night flight ( lights and strobes). ❓
This video was clickbait and pretty much worthless.

Hangon, ading the lights to your 249g drone takes it over the weight for recreational doesnt it? I live in Aussie...

How can I find people to pay me for drone shots?
You need your part 107 commercial operators license first. Then go build a portfolio.
If it’s under a certain weight there’s no need for testing
