    I use the capacitor resistor method to chart a PV array by feeding I and V into a cheap digital scope and storing it. Nothing like real life data on a PV array!

    Can we calculate solar electricity production from weather data or what are the parameters that are required to calculate the solar electricity production ?

    would rotation of the solar cell to capture energy allowing it to not get too hot? removing one element of energy loss, affecting other elements of loss?

    Where can I find these measurements but in relationship to defuse light?
    That is, graphs that show efficiency relative to angle of incidence and averages thereof.
    As I understand it mono-crystaline cells have higher efficiency with direct orthogonal illumination, but lose efficiency rapidly at greater angles, while thin film cells have lower overall efficiency but the drop off is much less with increasing angles and diffuse light.
    In your opinion what technology, perhaps even brand, have the best efficiency for a fixed mount ,non tracking installation with a often cloudy situation... In other words what's best at highest angle of incidence and/or the most diffuse light?. Are there any commercial systems you know of that actually work in highly diffuse low intensity light, as in, will keep producing even on the most cloudy of days...

    Can anyone explain me the physics backround in decrease of effieciency in PV cells when the temperature increases? According to physics, higher temperature in semiconductors generates more free electrons so why is there a decrease in efficiency?
    Thank you :)

      there is copper connections of busbars and other areas, where the resistance is probably increasing due to higher temperature

    Good evening! My name is Francesco and I'm doing a thesis on floating photovoltaic panels.
    I'm looking for a relationship between the resistor Rs that appears in the equivalent circuit and the temperature. This is to see how the resistance value varies at different temperatures and consequently evaluate the efficency . Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to help me!

      Given that a solar cell has
      Voc =4,2V.
      Isc = 45mA, and FF= 60%
      calculate the efficiency. The light used during
      the measurement was AM1.5 and
      1000W /m and the area of the cell is
      50cm2

    hi can anyone show me how to calculate formula for voltage for a solar cell characterized by a fill factor of
    0.34, short-circuit current 5.5 mA, voltage at maximum power 0.125 V and current at
    maximum power 3 mA many thanks steve

      FF= (Vm*Im)/(Voc*Isc)
      So make make Voc the subject of the formula to get an expression for Voc since you already the values of other parameters in the equation.

    Does efficiency is important factor for purchasing solar panel?
    *One hand, 1 KW panel with 15 percentage efficiency..
    *Other hand, 1 KW panel with 22 percentage efficiency ..
    In this case does the power generation changes or size of the panel changes..?
    Please clarify my doubt..

      @goblinlmine5061 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The higher, the better. More power needs larger panel.

    But how do we get the power input?

    • @ejekajoshua7813
      @ejekajoshua7813 ปีที่แล้ว

      Power input is gotten from the irradiance (power per unit area) of the light source. Conventionally, for AM 1.5 the power input is 1000W/m^2.

    Nick,, do a video on panel output verses load applied. most panels out there are poor power sources and the public needs to know how they are getting ripped off. OCV and short circuit current is a poor way to rate a power source. I can't remember any generator company rating a generator under theoretical power. The net is full of advertisements claiming 100W 12V solar panels which will never give you anything near that rating. I was an engine generator instructor for years and am lost as to how This theoretical data slips into the wattage rating of a panel when those conditions will never be there in the real world.
    Oh well, guess I'm just an outdated old dummy
