After seeing so many comments from you I want point one thing out: There is no certified number for casualties and the numbers mentioned range between 100 and a couple thousands. It's fair to say, that the official numbers from the government are probably too low.
The internet shutdown and the ban of Meta are further instruments of the government. If you share things about the protests, please use a VPN to stay as safe as possible. I follow the media looking for international reports about the situation in Bangladesh and hope for more resonance soon. May god protect you!

According to govt statement 210 died. But we are getting from different source that it is more than 700 to 800 even more than that.. Govt. deployed Army, Police, Elite Force RAB, Border Guard even Air force. They ooen fire to unarmed peaceful student protesters whom are demanding to bring change 56% govt. job quota kept @30% for grand grand children of freedom fighter, @10% women, @10% District, @5% for tribal and @1% for disabled. Actually the protest is mainly for the reason is govt is using this quotas to give job to the armed cadre named "Chhatraleague" student organization of the ruling Govt. Party.

ok so 56% total reservation . out of which 30% is only for freedomfighters' grand children. and thats ofc a discrimination . so students started protesting peacefully but on 16th july the govy started to attacks students using its own student wing and police, and thus protest became huge, ooh the PM also called the students as Razakaar( traitor/ anti-national) then students became furious and as of now more than 800-900 are killed the leaders of this protest are detained (govt says its for their own safety ) . and we need international support

    I'm a student from Bangladesh.
Innocent students, including a 17-year-old boy are being arrested on false charges. Police are checking phones for protest-related content and arresting individuals indiscriminately. They are also raiding homes at midnight, taking away students without explanation.

    Thw lines about king meant
"If the king kills his subjects ask em who the king is" its also wordplay cause "king is" also translates to raja kar . And the word "razakar" is heavily involved with this movement because it means war traitors back in 1971 independence war. A few days ago they called the students razakar's children for not wanting quotas .
So by the wordplay it means "ask em who the king is" also "ask whos razakar"

  • @jubayermahmudkhan
    @jubayermahmudkhan 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +35

The FFQ (Freedom Fighter Quota) quota/reservation system was introduced for the Freedom Fighters who fought in the Bangladesh Independence War on 1971. The quota was first introduced in 1972 in the constitution. 30% of the Government Job seats are reserved for the Freedom Fighters, in 1990s they updated the system and granted the quota for the children of Freedom Fighters as well, and lastly on 2010 they once again updated and granted the quota to the grandchildren of the freedom fighters. Normally reservation helps the people in backward society or area, 30% for the Grandchildren of Freedom Fighters made no sense and students first protested back in 2008 and 2013. Later on in 2018 a nationwide protest took part and PM Sheikh Hasina abolished all quota system altogether with 100% merit system on Government Jobs. With all other quotas (Tribal, People with Disablists, Women, District base) the total percentage was 56% reserved seats for Quotas where as only 44% seats for merit based. This was ridiculous.
But some children of Freedom Fighters in 2021 appealed on the court that PM's decision was illegal and in 2024 they won the case and Quota was back on. PM Sheikh Hasina was silent on the matter for a long time, when students saw months gone by and PM is not doing the justice they started their peaceful protest and the situation was escalated as Awami League's (Ruling Party) student wing Chatro League went violent and with the help of Police they attacked Peaceful Protesters. After causing hundreds of casualties they finally reformed the the system with 5% quota for Freedom Fighters Children but since the situation went way too far students now demand a complete overhaul of the current government and to truly establish Democracy within the country.
Now the situation is very dire, Mobile sim network is inactive for over 2weeks now. Broadband internet was completely shut down for 5 days and the speed is very poor now. Meta Apps (Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp) are banned as these are the major communication social media applications in Bangladesh. Google services are running on limited speed such as TH-cam, GMail, Google Meet.
Over 900+ students died, many common people also lost their lives because of Police brutality. They are shooting live rounds to the unarmed people. They are controlling each and every domestic media to spread propaganda news.
This is the situation now. I hope it helps you to understand the situation.

Through this song, the singer tried to inspire our students to go to war against the dictatorial government killing the students.
This dictatorial government is indiscriminately killing students as the Pakistani dictators killed students during the language movement in 1952. There are no stones. ( 52 ar 24 er tofat koire kotha ko) by this line of this line question is asked: where is the difference between 52 and 24?
This song asks the students who are sitting at home in fear that my brother is dying on the road, where are your efforts: ( amar vai more rastay, tor chesta koire kotha ko) by this line. 🇧🇩

    Here's what happened in short-
    1. Students protest against a discriminatory quota/reservation system for government jobs.
    2. The prime minister responds by calling the protesters traitors, enraging everyone. She then deploys the student wing of her political party to beat down the protesting students.
    3. Videos of the attacks spread through social media, igniting protests from students across the country.
    4. The prime minister deploys the police, who use rubber bullets on the protesters. Some protesters die, and the situation escalates.
    5. In response, she cuts off the internet and deploys the military with orders to "shoot on sight" using LIVE ROUNDS instead of rubber bullets this time
    6. Students, common people, and even children die, resulting in thousands of casualties. However, the media reports only 150 deaths, as they always do.
    7. The prime minister blames the opposition party for the chaos.
    8. Currently, the police are raiding homes and checking phones for any protest-related content. Those found with such content are jailed. Thousands of students are currently in jail, accused by the government of aiding the opposition party in causing the chaos.

Now, don't you wonder how she has managed to do this while having such a rough relationship with the public? Because there has been no election in the past decade. She has rigged everything. But unlike some other dictators, she has managed to keep her foreign allies satisfied. That's why you won't hear a single word uttered against her in the western media.

52's was a mass protest for making Bangla state or official language. And 24's movement was against the unfair quota system. (Later which became an all out protest to throw out the oppressing political party from the seat of government)
And in both times protesters are injured and killed by the oppressing government.

You may try to understand the historical timeline first.
1948 - India and Pakistan gained independence from the British. Two states were born on the basis of Hindu and Muslim religions. And here two parts of Pakistan, East Pakistan and West Pakistan, between which there was a distance of about 2204 km and had no cultural similarity other than the religious aspect.
In 1952, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) agitated to recognize their mother tongue Bengali as the state language. A procession was taken out for 21st February that year which was mainly led by the students. The procession was fired upon and many were martyred. Later in 1999, the United Nations recognized 21st February as the International Mother Language Day.
And in 1971, Bangladesh gained independence from Pakistan after a long nine-month war. Where almost three millions Bangladeshis were martyred and 2 lakhs of women were raped.
