@@scpguy1381 It was a sub product of germany not having good Steel Casting capabilities. The need to use welded construction usually results in a larger and heavier vehicle. With Cast turret they could have saved some 5 tons .

It broke down after few hundred km, and since it did not get a engine with supercharging and fuel injection, it is also slow. Sherman is overall the best World War 2 tank.

I was once playing with the Tiger II whilst listening to Rammstein at the end of a game when a Sherman took out my gunner and driver. He was circling me like a shark, but no matter what he did, he couldn’t kill me. The game ended before he could finish me off.
Tiger 2 is one of the few heavy tanks I would take out in an uptier and play like a medium tank. It's flexible in tank/turret traverse and has an elevated firing platform for its insane long 8.8.

This tank is amazing, even more so IRL, I had the pleasure to visit the Musée des Blindés and meet, among other great machines, the old lady 233, the only running Tiger II in the world (yet, there's a couple of surviving examples that are in the process of being restored to working order). Seeing and being close to such beast is truly humbling.
@@rerepluhh you are right, although, there's some French postwar designs I wouldn't cross, despite being only prototypes. The AMX 50 120 is really massive, the cannon seem so large that I'm sur it could be used as a CQC weapon.
IRL it was an overweight and oversized hunk of terribly welded steel that did nothing but drop Germany's last fuel reserves to nothing, it rarely encountered any Sherman's as well

And you’re right, it faced more T-34s and KV1s than Sherman’s. As it was needed more on the Eastern Front. Like I said, cool looking tack, not exactly practical. Just saying, a lot of tanks from back then were overall terrible.

Realistically it didn't dominate the battlefield, rather it was parked on the battlefield because Tiger 2 was unusable due to its failure rate. My grandfather told me a story about a friend of his from the war. He was 15 years old and he and his crew who had barely finished their training were given a Tiger 2, their deployment in combat seemed to be that they arrived at the front, the transmission broke down and the Americans started shooting at them. So they were scared to death and acted like they were knocked out before the Americans captured them. They pissed themselves in fear and they were really young so the Americans weren't too hard on them and they were able to come home after the war. Although he used to be honored at World War2 veterans meetings, they probably didn't know his story, only that he had a Tiger 2.

I've been playing the Tiger IIH and the Tiger II SLA recently, and these tanks are absolute beast mode when engaging at long range with no ATGM's on the enemy team. As long as you remember to angle and keep some distance, you're damn near invincible to most kinetic rounds the enemy can throw at you.

the problem with tiger II was the lack of resourses in late wwII germany. The armor was made from cheap steel which was cracking during hit of standard 75mm solid ap shell, mechanical parts was failing because of cheap materials, the barrel had short live due to bending etc :( And was made too late and too little, same as me262. Really cool peace of history tho
Only saving grace to this tank that even allowed it to destroy tanks was its 88mm gun, and like you said even then after you fire it for a while it bends. It’s armor was cheap but with the way they sloped it I guess was an attempt at counterbalancing that. Too bad it was easy cannon fodder for Typhoons and P-38s.

These things were logistical nightmares. However when they managed, the Allies would bleed. I know of two events on the eastern front where single Tiger IIs destroyed entire armoured spearheads of the Sovjets, destroying 20+ vehicles in one engagement. On top of that an Combat Command of an American Armoured Division got smashed in March 1945 when they ran into a company of them. So yeah, when they showed up at all, they devastated.
got the nuke once on frozen pass at 10.7, it was the end of the game tho and when I got over the map it didn't drop. And the game ended before I could turn around. I was furious.

Weren't most tiger 2s knocked out from their treads being shot or engine failure which caused fires? Most weren't actually "destroyed" by another tank but rather abandoned by the crew?
Most were not destroyed in battle but due to failures in design (sadly) and crews had order to destroy the tank when abandoning it. The tank was so heavy it had problems with engine, gearbox and track related stuff (the suspension was as incredibly comfortable as it was to maintain the same). But the gun was glorious and outclassed anything present during that time.

My granddad commanded a company of Tiger II's (part of 503rd heavy tank battalion), the first company of the Wehrmacht (as opposed to some Waffen SS who got these earlier) who got these if I'm not mistaken

On the 27th of January 1945, 4 King Tigers of s.Pz.Abt. 509 managed to knock out 41 T-34 tanks of the Soviet 23 Tank Corps near Pettend Hungary. The only reason they stopped the massacre was because they ran out of ammunition. 1 King Tiger was lost to friendly fire when one of the Tigers accidentally shot it in the rear during all the commotion.
Yeah in reality this was a very heavy tank with an unreliable engine and power train (a lot of these things destroyed themselves before a tank could). Doesn’t help that the country making it had no supplies 😂 still a very cool looking tank though, the gun was its only “good” quality and even then it started to bend after 100 rounds or so due to the cheap metal the barrel was made with.
Tiger could take on the same ammount of shermans as they had ammo. Tigers often went out of ammo, while the allies went out of tanks. 50 000 shermans were made, only about 1 800 tigers were made, and they wrecked the shermans. But, shermans were cheaper to produce and faster on everything. Tigers were not so cheap, slow on everything, but delivered one hell of a blow. And they basicly never got destroyed.
War Thunder completely exaggerated the performance of the Tiger II. The engines were not able to keep up with so much weight and were just bad in general, this same problem applied to their Tiger 1s and ME 262s. Another problem with the Tigers was numbers, the more advanced Tigers like the Tiger II only had a couple hundred produced and the Tiger 1 only had around 1,300 produced. The Sherman tanks usually had little to no problems dealing with Tigers due to the engine problems and lack of numbers, most American tank crews never even came in contact with a Tiger because of the problems and numbers as I stated earlier. War Thunder is accurate when it comes to the 76mm cannons on the Sherman’s punching straight through the almost 90 degree plates on the Tiger, but they can’t really depict the engine problems because that would cause the German players to leave a bad steam review. Most of the problems of the Tigers were also relevant on the Maus, which was much worse, just take the mechanical issues of the Tiger and multiply it by a billion. The most deadly German tank of WWII was probably the Panther, it had little to no engine malfunctions, but it still had a high powered gun which could punch through most hostiles. If you read this far, congrats, you now might know some stuff you didnt know earlier

The first time the Tiger II appeared on the Easter front, a single T-34-85 destroyed 3 from the flank. The tiger II, was a only suited to defending, and not assault. The side turret armor is weak, even from the front (at anything over 20 degrees).

I've been playing the Tiger IIH and the Tiger II SLA recently, and these tanks are absolute beast mode when engaging at long range with no ATGM's on the enemy team. As long as you remember to angle and keep some distance, you're damn near invincible to most kinetic rounds the enemy can throw at you.
I found some sort of weakness with the driver's hatch if I can land rounds there.

the problem with tiger II was the lack of resourses in late wwII germany. The armor was made from cheap steel which was cracking during hit of standard 75mm solid ap shell, mechanical parts was failing because of cheap materials, the barrel had short live due to bending etc :( And was made too late and too little, same as me262. Really cool peace of history tho
Only saving grace to this tank that even allowed it to destroy tanks was its 88mm gun, and like you said even then after you fire it for a while it bends. It’s armor was cheap but with the way they sloped it I guess was an attempt at counterbalancing that. Too bad it was easy cannon fodder for Typhoons and P-38s.

BTW when you talked about the power of the Tiger II. The hard part for the Germans was to get them onto the battlefield in working condition. These things were logistical nightmares. However when they managed, the Allies would bleed. I know of two events on the eastern front where single Tiger IIs destroyed entire armoured spearheads of the Sovjets, destroying 20+ vehicles in one engagement. On top of that an Combat Command of an American Armoured Division got smashed in March 1945 when they ran into a company of them.
So yeah, when they showed up at all, they devastated.
got the nuke once on frozen pass at 10.7, it was the end of the game tho and when I got over the map it didn't drop. And the game ended before I could turn around. I was furious.

Weren't most tiger 2s knocked out from their treads being shot or engine failure which caused fires? Most weren't actually "destroyed" by another tank but rather abandoned by the crew?
Most were not destroyed in battle but due to failures in design (sadly) and crews had order to destroy the tank when abandoning it. The tank was so heavy it had problems with engine, gearbox and track related stuff (the suspension was as incredibly comfortable as it was to maintain the same). But the gun was glorious and outclassed anything present during that time.

@@TheThatoneguy12121 The Panther had issues with the transmission (and turret rotation on not even terrain which was later fixed) as well - otherwise arguably the best tank in WWII.
My granddad commanded a company of Tiger II's (part of 503rd heavy tank battalion), the first company of the Wehrmacht (as opposed to some Waffen SS who got these earlier) who got these if I'm not mistaken

On the 27th of January 1945, 4 King Tigers of s.Pz.Abt. 509 managed to knock out 41 T-34 tanks of the Soviet 23 Tank Corps near Pettend Hungary. The only reason they stopped the massacre was because they ran out of ammunition. 1 King Tiger was lost to friendly fire when one of the Tigers accidentally shot it in the rear during all the commotion.

Tiger 2 is one of the most historically hyped tanks yet one of the most frustrating to play at the same time in WT :/
Yeah in reality this was a very heavy tank with an unreliable engine and power train (a lot of these things destroyed themselves before a tank could). Doesn’t help that the country making it had no supplies 😂 still a very cool looking tank though, the gun was its only “good” quality and even then it started to bend after 100 rounds or so due to the cheap metal the barrel was made with.

Tiger could take on the same ammount of shermans as they had ammo. Tigers often went out of ammo, while the allies went out of tanks. 50 000 shermans were made, only about 1 800 tigers were made, and they wrecked the shermans. But, shermans were cheaper to produce and faster on everything. Tigers were not so cheap, slow on everything, but delivered one hell of a blow. And they basicly never got destroyed.

War Thunder completely exaggerated the performance of the Tiger II.
The engines were not able to keep up with so much weight and were just bad in general, this same problem applied to their Tiger 1s and ME 262s.
Another problem with the Tigers was numbers, the more advanced Tigers like the Tiger II only had a couple hundred produced and the Tiger 1 only had around 1,300 produced.
The Sherman tanks usually had little to no problems dealing with Tigers due to the engine problems and lack of numbers, most American tank crews never even came in contact with a Tiger because of the problems and numbers as I stated earlier.
War Thunder is accurate when it comes to the 76mm cannons on the Sherman’s punching straight through the almost 90 degree plates on the Tiger, but they can’t really depict the engine problems because that would cause the German players to leave a bad steam review.
Most of the problems of the Tigers were also relevant on the Maus, which was much worse, just take the mechanical issues of the Tiger and multiply it by a billion.
The most deadly German tank of WWII was probably the Panther, it had little to no engine malfunctions, but it still had a high powered gun which could punch through most hostiles.

Let's not get crazy here, sure it was on the battlefield but rolling about? It kinda needs things like 'a working engine', 'fuel' or even 'a crew inside that hadn't scuttled their own tank after one of the other two things stopped existing'. Apparently they made decent bunkers though. Until they were overrun.

The first time the Tiger II appeared on the Easter front, a single T-34-85 destroyed 3 from the flank. The tiger II, was a only suited to defending, and not assault. The side turret armor is weak, even from the front (at anything over 20 degrees).

The super Pershing has a max of 17,911 to repair. Also the twin mustang apparently costs around 27k

Nazis lost three KT's on their first meet with T-34-85's. And Shermans, T-34's, IS-2's is much better just because it's mass product of military industry, but not unreliable wunderwaffe made maximum in a few hundred copies like late germans tanks.

Tiger II was top at armor, weapon but it was top at break downs too.
Even it's crews was far less skilled then the crews 9f of the victory nations.
cause the good crews were all dead or captured. When this tank rolled on the field it was all reserves and even worse than reserves. Old guys and teenagers.
