The way you guys review restaurants is the smartest way I’ve ever seen on TH-cam “would we eat here again” is a great benchmark. We've been trying for a while now. Saving our travel funds and building a loose itinerary. We definitely need recommendations though
Just discovered it in april last year during the sand fest. Have been there 3 times since and going back for the sand fest in 3 weeks. It’s like a second home!
@@ThatGuy496 love Canada. I don't visit much because I live in Michigan and life is similar. I am sad what is happening to both countries of late but Canada is really struggling. Praying Trudeau is gone soon. Time to stop putting emotions over logic Canada.

We used to “winter” in Clearwater. My FIL had a condo on the bay side & we were truck drivers. $$ not worth the risk in winter!
There used to be an awesome lil restaurant just as u cross to the beach side in the marina. It was a bait & tackle shop w/a fresh outdoor restaurant in back. They cooked whatever they caught that day. Last time we were there (like 2014 or 15), they had had a fire & it was closed. Really hope they re-opened!
Also, an AWESOME pierogi restaurant in the town. They also sold frozen pierogi’s to go. We would fill up our tiny truck freezer with/as many as we could fit when we left back to work… all kinds of pierogis!

Definitely check out Bar Tiki for some awesome authentic tiki cocktails right behind crabbys! Also the drunken shrimp at the bait house is phenomenal!

Went to Rockaway like you said, drove from Disney just to eat here, the sever was out standing and food was great and service was fast.

Loved the video. I might be relocating to that area or possibly St Petersburg. I actually have an interview for some place in Clearwater, so at the moment, trying to get all the info I can about that area. So, thanks for posting this video and the footage of the area was definitely helpful as well so I can get a good view/idea of what's around there (visually).

oh you're going to love clearwater! Check out our honeymoon island video too. If Clearwater beach gets too busy in the summer, that's a really nice alternative. Also, always down for new friends!!

I could eat at Frenchies 7 days a week! Great food and drinks at affordable prices. Staff and service is great as well!

Yes we found frenchies 8 years ago as we go to Clearwater every year. We have visited all over Florida up and down both coasts and Frenchies is the best food period!

Across the parking lot from Frenchies is the Palm Pavillion (?) I found the food even better than Frenchies at about the same prices Maybe a few bucks more but there is free parking if you time it right. The crab shrimp chowder is unbelievable IMHO
We'll have to give that a try!

@@professorhoodoo yeah we've been kinda of checking around to see how places are doing. Where we are in St Pete wasn't hit hard so maybe Clearwater were okay. They're a lot closer to the water though so I'm sure there was a lot of flooding near Clearwater
My wife and I just spent the weekend in Northers Clearwater a couple miles north of Frencies... It was fantastic but I'm sure the storm surge has penetrated the Casita we rented since it was ground level. Three days of keeping the floor spotless with no sand and then HURRICANE!!!!! @@TheDetourDuo

Great video! But a bit unsettling...Our family of 6 is vacationing there next week but it appears from your experience that just getting breakfast will be ~$160+tip! I was hoping to not have to mortgage the farm...😨 Is there a Mc D's nearby 😜
there's always a Mickey D's lol I'm sure there are cheaper restaurants for breakfast. Clear Sky just happened to be highly rated, but Frenchy's is pretty affordable. They just don't serve breakfast and open at 11

I love frenchy's I do not like crabbys, personally I think it is overpriced and more of a tourist trap. Right next to the Aquarium is a place called Island way Grill with a great happy hour and intercoastal views. You should do Caladesi, we take our boat up there and love it. Also, Dunedin is a great place with all the restaurants and bars as well, HOB brewery is great for sitting outside especially if you are a dog lover they are welcome there.
We will definitely check out Caladesi one of these days!

@@TheDetourDuo Jacksonville! I’m now married and have Two young boys - I grew up on the north side of town and hated it , but once I grew up and got out of the neighborhood I learned to love and appreciate the city. Moving to Jax for more opportunities
You gotta go the The Gondolier - it’s been there over 30 years! Best restaurant on the beach, it’s on the south side, aside from there the Mexican restaurant across from the pier 60. - Marina Cantina.

We’re heading to Clearwater soon and there was a lot of great info packed into this video! Thanks so much! Don’t mind me if I start binge-watching. 😆 Winter died a while ago though so she’s not longer at the aquarium but still a cool spot-very research-driven aquarium rather than for entertainment.. or at least it was the last time we were in the area.

Hi guys. How are the beaches at Clearwater end of February 2023.
I have in mind to go beginning March. Is the sea water cold?
Crowded beaches?
Temps are around 80F.
Suggestions Please
We were there and Jan. and even then it wasn't cold or overly crowded. The water temp right now is probably around 70, by March 75. End of Feb. starts high traffic for visitors so you might find it crowded, but the beach is plenty long so that you can have some sand to yourself. Regardless of when you go, if you get to the beach before 10 you'll be able to pick whatever spot you want. If you do find it a bit crowded when you go, sand key beach is a quick drive and far less crowded
I live in Clearwater but I neverrrr go to the beach 😮💨 it doesn’t grab my attention plus I don’t want to get darker lol

@@TheDetourDuo Sure and last question, if travel to Tampa airport, there shouldn't be any issue at TSA with carrying drone? Flying first time with drone so wanted to make sure. It will be in my carry bag.
Yep! Just make sure the batteries are not in the drone and drained, if possible. You shouldn't have to take it out at Tampa. Hasn't been an issue but is always best practice to have your registration number on the body of the drone.
Is it okay to visit Florida end of August?
Don't see why not. Just be aware the weather isn't always great. Fall is hurricane season

Do you think we need a car? How long did you stay?
We lived in Tampa so it wasn't a far drive for us. If you plan on just staying in Clearwater then you won't need a car. the strip is pretty easy to walk and they have a tram that runs frequently
How much is the expected tip ? We are visiting next year ❤
Not sure how to answer this. I guess it depends, but nowadays most receipts have recommended tip amounts broken down

Ah I got ya. We encourage tipping here. You'll see the proper amount on the receipt. Some places add it in for you, so if you see that "gratuity is added" then that means they automatically added the tip to your bill.
But definitely tip. Nothing happens if you don't. It's just polite here

we moved from Norfolk about 9 months ago, but most of my family still lives in Maryland so we're around that way at least a couple times a year. We'll let you know if we stop through that area!

not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure both Crabby's and Frency's have fried gator bites.

Food and beach.... the only things worth anything in clearwater...And the food isn't anything that can't be found elsewhere in florida..If you like overcrowded beach , flat water and scientology then clearwater is for you
