Yul Brynner was one of my favorite actors when I was 6 yrs and when I was 14 yr I was lucky enough to have seen him at the London Palladium in the King and I. I was mesmerised by him, he was very ill but he was still dancing and singing like nothing was wrong then he collapsed on stage, the curtains came down the play stopped and we was told to wait the play will go on Yul Brynner just needed to rest, he recoved enough to continue he came back and finished the play. The whole theater gave a standing ovation everyone was shouting and he took three bows it still make me cry. I didn't know then how ill he was.

What I find amazing is how people seem to determine how they feel about an actor based on his personal life. I fall in love with the characters they play and how they portray that character. Not the person playing that character. I don't care about the person. I don't care about the real person's politics love life personal habits or anything real about them. I go see them to be entertained. Not for advice not for a friend not for their opinion or anything else for that matter. I will never hate him because he did a great job of being a certain character. Period.

I think I'll always be a little smitten, but appreciate knowing more about his difficult character in real life. But still believe in him & hope he had more peace within himself toward end & more freedom from his ego. We all suffer from the antics of ego to some degree if we are overly identified with it & sounds like he had complexes of self esteem that made his more reactive. I wish him peace & joy in Light of God. I loved him in film version of King & I & the strength of the woman who bewildered him as King. Was really great movie. Thankyou. Was very interesting to hear more of his background & interests outside acting. Great job!❤

To much petty focus on disputes between actors most of whom have large egos and distort many facts about their personal lives, origins, etc. Most of the Reveals being made about old actors/actresses who were really idolized by older generations as ridiculously "Perfect" seem to NOT allow them to be as a product of their lives which were often DIFFICULT. Brennar was born into a post Bolshevik Revolution Russia and the "dad" abandoned the family. He was an amazing actor and accomplished individual. His circus accident would have been enough to defeat many personalities. His amazing rebirth as an actor speaks to his strength of character. Frankly, his accomplishments were not those of an AVERAGE PERSON. I respect him more than ever. This summary of his life should not have focused on his character flaws for the entire beginning. He grew to be a better person in old age even changing his mind regarding ethnic prejudice a COMMON trait of humans in earlier 20th century. He was a great ACTOR. His flaws are not close to the current people of Hollywood.

Brynner personally insisted that Bergman was cast in the film. He had just come off the Oscar win the previous year and had enormous clout in Hollywood at that moment. Bergman had been blacklisted do to a personal scandal involving her relationship with Rossellini. Brynner fought for her specifically until the prodicers relented. He basically saved her career.

You are talking dismissively for a guy who had been in half the world for the first 20 years of his life, living a very harsh life as a kid, who was dancing at cafes in Paris, doing acrobatics in circuses, reading Antinazi messages as a radio spokesperson, travelling to USA to escape the Nazis, singing amazingly with this unique voice of his, speaking 11 languages, being given low émigrés roles in the American theatres and films just so he always be the Russian immigrant and not outshine some other "stars", when he was the brightest most versatile star who was also superb in theatrical roles unlike most of those big Hollywood guns you keep referring. Unlike them, the world and the public adored him and this is what really matters in the long run. He was the legend.

Every person who walks this earth thinks he is bigger than life, better than anyone , does not escape something bigger than them (death)If you can beat that then your better because all your ideas and all your accomplishments go down in the grave with you and no one may ever know why you think your better then the next human being. Stay humble people.

Yul Brenner was talented. His performance in The King and I was outstanding. He looked incredibly handsome. I have no idea if what this video is about is actually true. I really don't care if it is or not. That man has been dead for so long I can't imagine why anyone wants to bad mouth him now!!

It's very sad to see completely mediocre and useless people, employees, relatives, especially children, who often bring public revelations about the intimacy of dead super celebrities, who cannot speak out, just for a pathetic opportunity to appear, including the fact that many still live off this success.

Appreciate and respect talent. People forget, in name of tabloids that we are all imperfect human beings and yes sinners. So if you think you are perfectly flawless or pure then go cast that first stone then, otherwise hush. Be careful how you point that finger with criticisms and judgements, there's 4 more pointing back at you. 😳

I really liked him as an actor, I did hear rumours about him being difficult to work with. I still today admire him as one of Hollywood's greatest actors and I love that movie The king and I.. I like all his movies. I also still think he's one of the most beautiful men iv ever seen, his facial features are perfect.. I had no idea till now he was bisexual, but I'm not shocked as it seems to be very common to be gay or bi in the acting world.. 🤔 it doesn't put me off a person anyway 😮 they can be what they want to be and shouldn't hide it.. there might have been a lot of truth in what his daughter wrote about him, and maybe she didn't want him to know what she thought about him. She probably still loved him dearly in spite of his difficult nature. I'm very disappointed in his grave surroundings and his headstone. I also wonder how much money he had after such a brilliant career and how much of it did his family get of his fortune.. if that was my father I would not care about the money but I'd definitely care about the future maintenance of his grave surroundings and I'd add over the years to the engraving on his head stone. I'd write everything he said he wanted on it.. 😢❤

Sugiro para quem interessar, a leitura de 2 livros de Rock Brynner: 1º Yul: The Man Who Would Be King e o 2º: Empire and Odyssey: The Brynners in Far East Russia and Beyond, editado em inglês, russo e japonês; é possível encontrar até no kindle. 💘

An excellent, glimpse of the life of a complex, brilliant man. Sadly, many of the comments reveal individuals who need to have their heroes whitewashed and are either uninterested or unable to tolerate seeing the full facet of their complicated personalities. Why can we not admire, even love our heroes and accept that they are imperfect humans like the rest of us.

As many times as I've watched it,I never noticed or thought anything of McQueen's actions. Deliberate or not, I enjoyed both performances. His King was magnificent & incomparable. A shame to have such insecurities but his background make it understandable. (Deborah Kerr was a better Anna than Lawrence IMO)

You can not tell what an actor is until you know his work and his life. When viewing the works don't try to see the life, it might change your opinion for the worse.
