Keep in mind that both of those tracks are from like 5-6 years ago, I'd really really recommend checking out material from their two most recent albums if you want to be fully blown away (especially their 2018 album Stranger Fruit imo)
Manuel Gagneux, the lead singer, guitarist, and founder of the band created it in response to a challenge he had issued on a whiteboard site to give him two genres to mix. He got one suggestion for black metal and another for slave music. Obviously he succeeded in coming up with something. He's also been quoted as saying the band came from the question of "what if American slaves had embraced Satan instead of Jesus?" I agree with the other suggestions here but my personal favorite is Come On Down.
