I made this as my first tiered cake. I changed it to make it suitable for a veterinary technician. Everyone loved it!! I even got a couple of new orders from it. Thank you for all of the videos. I’ve learned so much!
Omg,I love every single cake video you put on here! My youngest daughter is a nurse so I think I will attempt this for her and her co-workers sometime soon! Thank you so much for sharing your creations with us! You are the best!
I absolutely love everything that you do. I have watched your videos for a couple years now and have learned SO MUCH. Thank you for sharing your knowledge about every aspect of cake making. You're the best.
I have been watching your video for years always like them, but never made any comments, my God you are very talented on what you do. Im a baker myself and I learned a lot from you. Keep up the good work you’re amazing.❤
Hello Karolyn, This cake is perfect like all of you cakes. I love all your videos. You explain perfectly. I love that you show in every video what tool we need to use and what colors we need to combine in order to achieve that specific color. In every video I learn something new. I love that in your latest videos you are sharing your cake prices, it helps me very much. Thank you 😊
I am blown away by this cake. The detail is out of this world. Even more impressive is how you seem to effortlessly put together all of medical stuff you put on the cake. OMG!!! It would have taken me a year just to figure it out. Awesome job!!!
I'm so excited - my client sent me your cake as an inspiration picture! I'm so excited to decorate this cake and will be sure to give you credit. Thank you SO much for the tutorial ❤️ I love watching your videos and putting everything I learn into practice 😘
P.S. before the video was over, I tried to guess how much you'd charge. I guessed $400, but you charged a little less. I think someone would gladly pay more. It's definitely worth it!
Awesome design! I love how so many “medical elements” were incorporated. It really adds to the personalization of a custom cake! This is really great, bravo!
I don’t know how I missed this video, but I’m watching it now! This is such a great tutorial as I have been trying to find the perfect cake to bake for my mother since she is a nurse. I’m definitely going to try this design… Or something very similar😊. Thank you!!❤
Thank you so much for sharing! You're so very talented! You're kakes look amazing! I love watching your videos! I've learned so much from you! I can't thank you enough for all the work you put into your videos!!THANK YOU!! YOU'RE AWESOME!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Karolyn, you're sooo creative. Love this cake! The non-skid padding used to hold the cake in place kind of has the same texture as the tool you used for the bandage pattern. Perhaps pressing that against the fondant would create the same effect (with some type of barrier like plastic wrap in between to prevent sicking).
I absolutely love this! My daughter is a nurse in the Air Force and this would be a perfect cake for her and her coworkers! Can’t wait to make this one! Thank you for sharing your talent! ❤❤
0:26 hi, Karolyn! I just want to thank you for sharing and explain everything in such a simple way! I’m Norwegian, but having zero problems with following your instructions. A question; ( I understand if you don’t have the time to answer!) But I struggle with tearing fondant. I have tried “everything”, marsmallow (your recipe), and other fondants from a bunch of brands. What is wrong with me???!!! Thank you again for great videos, recipes and your fantastic humor 🥰🙏🏻💐
As a fellow cake decorator, I'm not only grateful to see how you do things (it gives me ideas that I've never thought of), but also entertained 😁 This is better than most TV shows to me 🙃 (Edited to ask: would using rice krispies and marshmallows work for the pill bottle or is fondant easier in this case?)
I’m a baker and RN. I never seen a true normal sinus rhythm EKG on cake like this. We always see unreal EKG-ish lines or even life threatening abnormal rhythms on celebration cakes sometimes! Lol
Sorry I ask so many questions, when I add the cmc powder it changes the consistency of the fondant like it doesn’t roll out nice anymore, not sure what I’m doing wrong. Also, I found if I let the fondant sit for too long, it cut way easier but I couldn’t smooth out the edges when I cut out shapes…
Are you making marshmallow fondant or using store bought fondant? I only use my homemade marshmallow fondant. Store bought fondant just doesn't work as well!
I feel like each medium holds differently. Water adheres quickly and is good for light decorations. Piping gel is good for things like borders because it can be a little slippery. I like adhering decorations to icing with icing, I feel like it holds really well (since I refrigerate my cakes). Here's a video! th-cam.com/video/gfc0heeMRmY/w-d-xo.html
The icing doesn't melt at room temp, it just gets a little softer. All of the fondant is securely adhered to the icing. And the heavier pieces are secured with a toothpick that goes into the cake. The only time I've had issues with the decorations falling off is if the cake was stored outside on a hot day or in a warm room.
Yup! I put all of my cakes in the fridge...fondant decorations, buttercream, edible images. They all go in the fridge with any of those decorations on there! You have to control the environment the cake is in. Here's a video explaining: th-cam.com/video/vBKi-O7v98w/w-d-xo.html

Hey Karolyn! Love your videos ❤ have you made a buttered yellow cake before?
Thank you CJ! I haven't made a buttered yellow cake. Is that something you like to make?
@@KarolynsKakes I usually use a box cake when making one for home. I was looking for a good homemade recipe.

Amazing again. Why do you use water sometimes and piping gel other times when glueing either pieces to a cake or when making names with a background?
I feel like each medium holds differently. Water adheres quickly and is good for light decorations. Piping gel is good for things like borders because it can be a little slippery. I like adhering decorations to icing with icing, I feel like it holds really well (since I refrigerate my cakes). Here's a video!

Very nice!Did you dowel go all the way thru or just thru the top cake?
Thank you! It goes all the way through both cakes into the cake board. I explain further in this video:
th-cam.com/video/VwD3RqCasxg/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful! Now when the icing comes to room temperature, how do the details not droop or fall off?
The icing doesn't melt at room temp, it just gets a little softer. All of the fondant is securely adhered to the icing. And the heavier pieces are secured with a toothpick that goes into the cake. The only time I've had issues with the decorations falling off is if the cake was stored outside on a hot day or in a warm room.
Do you refrigerate your fondant cakes after their done? I heard that refridgerated Will make the fondant sag?
Yup! I put all of my cakes in the fridge...fondant decorations, buttercream, edible images. They all go in the fridge with any of those decorations on there! You have to control the environment the cake is in. Here's a video explaining:
