Nash was a real one. Magloire and Fox had no desire to play for our national team. Also, don't forget about Todd MacCulloch.
As a Canadian, I hope he's right, but I wouldn't bet a bag of pucks on our national team to beat the USA in a gold medal game.

Not a loophole, but same thing as Kawhi and the Clippers after today when the Clippers decided that even though Kawhi is okay with playing in the Olympics they would rather have him training for the season instead of getting injured again and then sitting out while being paid
i think its pretty standard for their contracts to be structured that way so the teams that are paying millions for them have pseudo-refusal for their asset getting hurt while playing for an extracurricular. I think it was Jordan that had it in his contract that he was allowed to play whenever he wanted under a clause called "for the love of the game" or something along those lines haha
America is still #1, but with starters who are 39, 36 and 35, they are playing with fire against young opponents.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Canada's team is pretty stacked full of top level NBA players just having a backcourt of Jamal Murray and SGA makes them a threat.

Maybe on paper but it will interesting to how Canada looks given the players have been training together the past two years vs the USA all-star team. Not only that but they’ve been competing at FIBA tournaments which is a very different style of basketball.

The dream team would embarasses this year's usa team. The dream team is better at every position. Curry makes this team worse not better. He's not the greatest shooter ever. To be a great shooter you have to be clutch and curry isn't clutch.

Not true, Canada doesn’t stand a chance USA is superior over everyone and anyone. Crazy, but this team could’ve been even better if we had Paul George, Jaylen Brown and Brook Lopez. Instead of Jrue, Tyrese and Embiid. Since Embiid is Cameroonian-born. And, if Erik Spoelstra was head coach not Steve Kerr.

@jesseswarbrick7895 I agree but the older guys on the team still won't be major defensive liabilities. Steph is in such great shape and has actually improved as a defender in recent years. Lebron & KD are so big/long that they can still recover on defense and shouldn't be a libaility on that end.

This is not the Winter Olympics nor is it hockey. Canada will not win the gold medal in basketball.
Canada has already won an Olympic silver medal in men's basketball and a FIBA bronze just last year.
While I do think it would be tough for them to win Gold, it's not impossible. This Team Canada roster has been playing together for the past 3 years, training hard for this. They beat Team USA in the FIBA world cup 127-118. To say that a team with the kind of chemistry, talent, and chip on the shoulder that Team Canada has, can't beat a team USA that was slapped together last minute, and hardly has many minutes playing together, is kind of ridiculous. Look at how many super teams fail to materialize into championship teams in the NBA (Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, LA Clippers, etc). You can assemble a roster of the best players, but if ego gets in the way of chemistry building, then you're always at the whim of the more cohesive team. That's just sports though.

Ok guys, we can’t be delusional here. Predicting team Canada leaving the Olympics with a gold in basketball is over the top. No Wiggins no chance! Those clowns in the US should be winning gold 40 years straight if their best players play.
no one predicted that they would win gold, they said that Canada has a real chance, which they do with SGA & Jamal Murray. they came 3rd last year at the World Cup without Murray so they will certainly be medal contenders. they just don't have USA-level depth

Curry is only on the team because kerr is the coach. Curry wasn't even a top 30 player last year. He will be the reason USA loses if he starts and/or plays too many minutes.
