      You phone you are thinking of is the Palm Pre. Less than 4 inches, looks a lot like this one. Slide out keyboard. Wireless charging... came out over a decade ago. Best phone OS ever made too. Ah, if only that had caught on!

      I''m glad this video was made. I was looking at Unihertz website and it seems they're making a smaller version of their rugged Titan QWERTY smartphone. I'm hoping they will make a slider Jelly in the future! Heck, even a T9 Jelly or something would be pretty nice.

    I've had mine for two years now. With no issues whatsoever. Still runs amazing, currently on Android 11. The only con is that typing took some time getting used to. But it is totally worth it, it's a great way to detox. The battery is still good too. Highly recommend this tiny beast of a phone for a minimalist lifestyle. I hope it gets an Android 12 upgrade further down the road.

    • @inksnake1558
      @inksnake1558 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lisarhockensmith423 I live in Sweden, so any carrier would work here. However i would not recommend this phone, or any Unihertz product anymore.
      They only get 1 update if you are lucky. I bought my Jelly 2 in the summer of 21, and it got it's last security update Jan 22.
      My banking security app started to warn me not to use the phone for banking because the risk of security breaches is too high. Since Sweden is a high security country authority's are very picky.
      It's a shame really, because it's the best flawless smart phone iv'e ever had. But if you a planning to use it solely as a dumb phone you should me fine i suppose.

    • @jasbrg
      @jasbrg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      As one who's been using it daily for some months... My only pain point is the typing. Tapping is pretty hard but swiping is good enough mostly. I typed this comment out on it only making one mistake. Otherwise it's perfect even for a main phone.

    • @vitaminjuk
      @vitaminjuk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I've got one too. Typing pain can be reduced using swipe gesture typing on the keyboard. Since this vid it's had a security update (but no Android 11 ... yet?). The fingerprint sensor is the flakiest most useless thing ever. And the bluetooth sometimes goes weird but they claim to be fixing it. I'm quite happy with mine (especially over the Jelly 1) and have been using it as a daily driver since I got it!

    • @superwellplayed
      @superwellplayed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      UPDATED to android 11 and Unihertz did an update as well. Fingerprint works 95% of the time for me. Added two of the same finger prints. Has issues when finger is wet/sweaty so dry first. Seems like finger print reader got better with updates. GPS is a bit glitchy in doors. Use swift key, it will save you a headache.

It does require a Micro SD card for storing music but everyone has at least ten of those lying around. It's a much better buy as a ~$200 music machine than any smartphone could ever be. I'm surprised how good people say this phone is. My wife came home today and demanded I buy her one. I never heard of this phone and she had a picture of it that she took from of her friend's phone. I expected it to be a piece of crap but I think it might actually be usable. She uses her phone for email, whatsapp, youtube, audible, music, and occasional reading and browsing the web so I figured this might do the job. She wants something that isn't big (at all) easy to carry around and will force her to use her phone less (which I see a lot of people saying about this...)

    "Stumpy wee little troll-fingers" is how I'm going to explain my hands from now on 😂
    I was a Kickstarter supporter and have been using it since then. If you like me dream about the days when phones were small like the Xperia Ray and Xperia Mini this is your thing. There's a couple of smaller China mobiles but they all lack battery. The keyboard is small but swipe works pretty well. I'm *old* so I need to take off my glasses to be able to see some things on the status bar. The camera is. It could've been better, but it could also have been a lot worse. My only alternative is the upcoming Unihertz Titan Pocket.

    Holy crap, someone actually made a sub 5" phone :o
    My first smartphone was an HTC Desire C, and that had a 3.5" screen I believe, it was perfectly fine at the time, but horribly slow today, it was about 150 dollars in 2013 after all :p
    3" is a bit small tbh, 4.5" with bezels like an iPhone 4S is a perfect compact size, so basically you can get 5" if you have no bezels, keeping the footprint small.
    Hey! What about giving it a stylus as well? :) A case with a stylus holder?
    Great idea Unihertz, potentially filling a gap in the market here, even though I`d make it 1" bigger.
    It`s 200 bucks and a more powerful alternative to any type of similar sized phone.

    In my opinion this is how a phone should be. I think we should have different names nowadays for what we call these super expensive and massive phones/smartphones. Think about it, at this point they just have a phone included but for that reasoning you can just as well call it a camera and as funny as that may be it's not far off. You can make calls with your computer but you wouldn't call it a phone and the vast majority of smartphone reviews never touch on call quality or capability. The phone aspect takes second place to game performance, camera performance, multi-tasking, screen size, and screen clarity. You don't need a massive OLED gaming/movie powerhouse to ask your wife what ingredient she's missing lol.

    That seems so small by modern standards but my iPhone 4 was just half an inch bigger and my step-dad used to have a 2.5 inch Sony smartphone back then.

      Scary to think that every phone used to be 3-4 inches, no idea how we typed messages - voice dictation was made for this thing

    Another inch on that thing, an AMOLED display and a proper single lense 16/64mp combo would have made the unit perfect in my eyes.
    I realize the market demand probably isn't all there, but I can't be the only 80s kid with a little nostalgia for this familiar style of gadget.

    This is a phone for people who just need there phone for the primary purpose of being a phone as opposed to dubbing as a mini-tablet. I have a tablet already I don't want to try and carry another one in my pocket. I also don't feel the need to be constantly on social media either. So for me this phone would be a good fit, if only that screen slide up revealing a small qwerty keyboard as well, than it would be perfect.

    I have this phone. Its does the job. Its weakest feature is the camera. Long typing can be a challenge. If you need a smartphone but compact then this is a nice phone. If you do quite a lot of media consumption and browsing then using this can be quite a challenge.

    Loved my Straight Talk LG Zip, a compact smart phone with a sliding keyboard, & a touch screen that was 3.2 inches. Wished a newer version of something similar to it would exist.

    I need a mini phone in my life. Especially considering that now a days you can connect it to a smart tv, a remote keyboard if needed, etc. Also I do slide typing which I think is perfect for this phone. To me, all the phones on the market already look quite bulky and old fashioned. I actually think this looks smart and elegant. If I saw james bond using it, I'd be jealous. Camera needs to improve though.

    I remember me with the HTC kaiser back in the days with just a 2.8" screen Lmao.. And when I got the HTC HD2 everyone was like what a monster of a phone that is because it was a 4.3" display.

      @@TechSpurt the titan with the win7mobile os, that was a new era for phones. But that HD2 was something else, it was also the first phone with 1gb+ RAM, which was MASSIVE back then.
      The joys that phone gave me with dual booting win mobile 6.5/7 with android jellybean. Lol the HD2 was when I became a flash-aholic!!!!
