A true potato pc user lives by the one rule of "Hey. It runs". While asleep they may dream of that 4090, but while awake they enjoy the game with what they have, and their fun is barely diminished (if at all) by crappy textures and general low res. Contented and grateful gamers they are.
A good WH40K game is like finding gold in a peat bog. Games Workshop licenses it to any developer it feels like. From memory Dawn of War 1 & 2, Space Marine 1 & 2 and Boltgun (which will literally run on a potato) are the only ones I'd consider good. There's just so much 40k shovelware. Most notably what they promised with Eternal Crusade and what actually released is such a damn shame.
@@TechLabUK Don't know if you still have the Ryzen 5 2600 in your stash but I suspect your biggest bottleneck is the CPU so slapping a used R5-2600 for 30 Quids would probably kick it into slightly less potatoish realms.
@@TechLabUK When you did the side shot at the start I paused it to see if something like a 5700x3d, a 4060 and a memory + cooling upgrade would be doable haha

Update it to the latest bios and then try a 3000 and/or 5000 series Ryzen cpu, you never know. "Officially supported" doesn't always include everything. Worse case is you get a black screen. (A 2700x would be big upgrade from 1200)
We upgraded this little system to it's max support in this video: th-cam.com/video/MZUvWcdyzD8/w-d-xo.html worked well tbh but being a potato is more fun.
man that struggled. not sure exactly what gpus you have to hand but im wondering if an interesting video idea might be see what gpu ya can put in it until it gets bottlenecked hard by the cpu if that makes sense, sort of a "is it worth upgrading a potato pc" kind of video. hope that makes sense.

Onca the rtx 5090 comes out, any pc with a rtx 4090 is a potato to me

@@ImWobbly a whole 7fps

The only thing you could have done to make this more painful would have been using a hard disk drive. AMD has come a long way in 8 or 9 years.
@@tonkatoytruck omg could you imagine this system with a HDD lol
i think it will had a better chance if it was 16g of ram dual channel would improve the game.
Next step is to see how minimally you can upgrade the potato to get to a playable state.
That’s a great idea, maybe a follow up on the same game if people like this video enough.

@@Dingbat1967 I think I have a 2600X but that's not supported by this BIOS so will have a hunt around for one that is.

I'm currently playing the first Space Marine game. It's alright.
It's a great game, by the time I found it it was about £1.50 or something so for that price it kept me entertained.
I maybe using Entry Level Specs currently 😅. But I only run Casual Games and Most Daily Activities 😅

have you tried Helldivers 2 on this system?
No, not yet.

That’s not a potato pc, it’s more of a cabbage or turnip!!!
Turnip PC goes well.
If you have weaker than a 3080 you’re a peasant.
