BRO boys. You guys scored big hiring Wes man. You guys deserve every bit as awesome as Wes is. I'm so glad he scored a cow and props to him for not worrying about shooting the big bull. I loved this hunt more than any, well maybe not as much as Trent's 6 point hunt last year, but this is a close 2nd. Congrats Wes man. Good on you for stepping up and getting it done. That may be the best episode (educational wise) yet. Very detailed blood tracking for 60 yards, experience as (not a new comer but haven't finished yet) hunter, and the detail of equipment and scenario. I think that connected with a lot of people that watch your show and live outside of the west. Thank you!

Just started watching the series this year just before the season opened this aug. And love seeing you guys hunt and harvest elk. Watching Wes take that cow was the coolest so far in my opinion. I'm hoping that next year if things work out to head to Idaho for the first time and hope that watching you guys helps me be more successful and has inspired me to get out of my comfort zone and leave my home area in central oregon "ochocos" and just try something new. Keep up the great content and good shooting wes

This whole expereince was very similar to my first elk (cow) this year. The blood trail didn't start till about 40 yards from where I shot her. Found my arrow just like Wes's and just over the hill there she was...probably a total of 60 yards from where I shot her. It was a great shot and come to find out it my arrow went through her should and clipped the heart. For the first time my family has a freezer full of elk...what an awesome feeling to be able to provide for your family. Congrats on your elk!

Went on my first archery elk hunt in 20 years this fall. You guys were a big reason I finally got motivated to make it happen. Ended up harvesting a calf (first legal elk in bow range). Would have loved to arrow a bull, but figured I better not be picky and risk coming home empty handed. It did my heart good to see Wes take that cow. I can tell he felt very blessed to get to hunt, and take some meat home. I can relate. Thank you guys for all you do.
After watching Land of the Free and this far in 2.0, I think this is my facorite episode by far!!! It was awesome watching bulls get taken. But to watch for the first time a cow to be taken is awesome! I agree with, yeah it's nice to harvest something with antlers, but in the long run they don't fill your stomach! Congrats Wes! I preach what you mentioned in the uncut about just harvesting animals. I learned to bowhunt by shooting anything I could with a bow growing up...grouse, squirrels, gophers, pheasants... I hear and see too many new bowhunters that hold out for the “big one” that have never harvested an animal with a bow and have no idea what it’s like drawing back on something with a pulse. When you’re heart is pounding so hard, it feels like your eyes are gonna pop out of your skull and you can’t stand still cause your right leg is about to collapse!

Great video. Great shot. On the cow. Reminds me of when I was a meat hunter. My first 20 years archery kept the freezer full of deer and elk. The last twenty some years I decided to hold out for bulls and bucks only, and I’m a bit slower maybe. Freezer goes empty some, but still enjoy the hell out of it! I’m thinking of going for the meat this year… maybe 😅

Nice job wes with the cow. You would think the guys would be happy its a lighter load for sure. Geting a big bull is worth everthing. But shooting anything with family is the best part about it. The brother hood is reel keep it up.
You guys are awesome as I had to take this year off from bow hunting whitetails in Minnesota due to breaking my leg and ankle in 3 places I now have 10 screws a 6 inch plate and what the surgeon called a tight rope tendon but I will be in the elk woods again next fall

I liked the fact that Wes was using something other then a 80+ lb bow. I have lowered my poundage to 62 due to shoulder issues. I under stand that at times the harder hitting setup might be the best option, but it’s not the only option. I shoot almost a 500 gr arrow with my 62 lb draw and blew thru a bull elk at 68 yards. But the shot was broadside and went thru the boiler room broke two ribs in and 1 out.. preach setup and shot selection over the big truck bow.. Good job Wes..love the series you guys seem to enjoy the journey
Happy birthday Trent! I have a request possibly for next year and maybe there is a reason you don't show them but I like to see shot placements on these elk. I know you guys sometimes talk about the shot but I'm a visual person.

Good job Wes! Congratulations! By the way, I had the same thing happen with my Traeger (all the bolts coming out) the first trip I took with it. I hit every bolt with Loc-Tite when I got it home and haven't had a problem since.
Making a good clean shot on any game animal is something not easily done with a bow. If you are successful in doing that, it’s something to be proud of.
