I really like how you explain Matthews attitude/mind set on how he hunts. He is very cool customer for sure and, if you think bout it, makes total sense. I like it. Thank you for the info and be cool out there. Have a great wknd!!

Appreciate the kind words. Matthes's a great hunting partner. Later this month we'll be doing his favorite thing - waterfowl hunting. I will be the follower and he'll be the leader.

The way Randy says Skoden 🤌🏽. Definitely has some Indigenous relatives in his circle.

Pulled my first Pronghorn tag ever for 2024 Wyoming's season. Resident tag, been here three years from Tennessee. Most fun ive had in recent years. Hunted two days, chased about five decent bucks. Fast little buggers, aint they! Found a young one with a decent rack, he was blinded by the ladies and i was able to close from 400 to about 120 yards. Good off hand shot and he was down. Will be applying for tag every year now.

Yes, the 90s and a little beyond were great times to hunt antelope in Montana. Not so much since then, but I believe they're making a bit of a come back. After hearing your comments about your drawing luck here, I feel pretty fortunate about my record. I am 81 years old, and I have only been in Big Sky Country for 31 years, but ... I shot my 22nd Montana antelope this last season. Yeah, I've been blessed by the antelope gods, I guess! All the best to you and your family!
P.S. And I know what you mean about the memories, as I told my younger (only 67) hunting companion this year, "You might think I'm hunting antelope, but I am really hunting memories."

I agree. I hunted antelope in Montana near the Missouri River Breaks in ‘93, ‘94, and ‘97. Seemed to be a lot more then.

@GM-md5ss Well, in a total of about seven hours, this last season, I saw between 80-90 goats! Haven't seen numbers like that in about 20 years. Thatcwas in an area that I love to hunt but haven't been to in 3 years. So,🤞

@ Hopefully that’s a good sign. I’ll have 6 points this year, hopefully can draw something. Didn’t draw last year with 5. Don’t care for the Region 7 split into north and south thing. My son lives in Bozeman, probably even harder to draw over that way

@GM-md5ss Splitting H.D.700 was a very good idea for antelope recovery, which is seriously needed, in that part of the state. Good luck with the drawing this year.

    Thanks for taking us along!
In 2022 my wife, son, and I had seven pronghorn tags between us for our preferred area. We made four one-day trips over the course of the season (several weeks). We filled all our tags. On our last hunt day I was able to crawl within 100 yards and take two does. I think they get skittish with constant pressure. But each morning is a fresh start. Keeping a low profile helps immensely.
Too bad the 2022-23 winter decimated the Wyoming herds. I’m looking forward to their numbers improving over the next years.

You have about as much luck drawing Montana pronghorn tags as I do drawing Wyoming pronghorn tags. Now with the aftermath of the 2022 / 2023 winter it's gotten even more difficult. Good luck and enjoy the hunt.

You're obviously in eastern Montana. I'm thinking miles city area. You know Randy, that if you saw big Hank 2 minutes after opener, you could pretend hunt the next 7 days and edit big Hank in and we'd be none the wiser. 😊😅 Fond memories for sure.

Got my Mt speed goat in HD 400 opening day w/ my Rem 722 in 6 mm. The load was a 90g Remington bronze point. The bullets and gun are older than me.

You didn't harvest a buck in this one, but the birds made up for it. I haven't seen a big flock of Sage Hens like that since the mid to late 90's up on the highline near Ft Belknap in the Malta area. The swans & sharpies were really cool as well.

@@slowmo7162 whitehorse. it took 19 points to draw. i was out of state on business and struggled to get back in time for the hunt. at least where we were, there were no signs of fire.

I don’t understand why we talk and talk, then talk some more about Mathew deciding to shoot or not to shoot. It’s the same thing with every video🤷🏼‍♂️. Probably 50% of all the hunters do the same exact thing. It’s not that unusual. Move on.

Because we are trying to tell what is going on, what we are thinking, and what is influencing what we decide to do. If that's not content you enjoy, no hard feelings.
