Ragnar prime is no trap and will be in the same category as Zhuge liang and Liu Che. He is a top tier commander! But that being said…cause INF having both smite and skill damage commanders. Even though being on this power level he’s not for everyone. And understanding if he is a good investment for you is crucial. For anyone running 3X INF he will be a must have. If u run 2X INF it depends on if u already invested Wallace or not. You did not invest in Wallace? You run Liu Alex. And Ragnar scipio prime. Now when the new INF cycle comes around I expect a new smite commander and u would bench the Alex. You run New smite commander + Liu AND Ragnar + scipio prime. If u already have Wallace Liu and Guan scipio. U should NOT invest in Ragnar. U would run Wallace + new smite commander AND scipio prime Liu (Or Liu Alex if u have Alex and prefer that pair). If u run Scipio Liu, Wallace Liu or Liu alex as your one INF march. I think you should skip Ragnar. Unless maybe you have a great purpose for him when playing the new kvk format using him with other troop types. Hope this helps someone.

Here after his event just released. If the next inf commanders continue to be smite (which I think is nearly guaranteed, putting out skill inf or 1 skill 1 smite would make no sense) Ragnar prime is a trap in the sense that he’ll be a short term power boost, and may likely get phased out quickly (1-2 cycles). As another will/lc guan/scip user I think guan will just have to hold out for 1 more cycle. Ragnar is tempting but 690 sculptures for a short term improvement might not be the move. Gonna still keep an eye out for his reports though.
Currently we have 3 smite field commanders: Liu, WW and Alex(pretty much smite). The chances of getting another smite field commander are extremely high so we'll end up having 2 smite marches but it's just a matter of time. Releasing Ragnar just prolongs the period because most people invested in wedge and using him with Scipio gives you time to gather another decent arch set.
He is very good with scipio, or at least he seems good in canyon and in TH-cam creator practice ark testing, but seems odd to give us a skill damage commander after a long period of moving infantry to smite damage. Unless somehow they are giving for free ready to play, he is going to be expensive in universal gold heads if he is not given free as they have stated that he is not available from wheel of fortune or mge.

Perhaps he is available to all in the king of Britain kvk and the winners get to keep him unlocked permanently as a prize, or you have to get to a crazy amount of kills in the kvk? Would be an interesting twist.

I'm an infantry and seige main--two marches of each, one Cav and one Archer. There is no way I'm putting 690 gold heads into a skill commander at this point. They will definitely do more Smite in 2025.

RP is Aoe and we all know that AOE is superior in field fights .. the real question is will WW still useable on the next smite infa ? If not then your best 2 infa choices is Liu with new smite + Scipio RP
