I agree. I was very tempted by the "Original". Good to see filofaxes in an actual store. That A5 Norfolk was simply enormous! I enjoyed looking around.
Have said it many times - the Original is 'the bee's knees' as far as I'm concerned. Glad you liked it! The Norfolk and Malden are too busy in terms of all those pockets etc for my liking - lumps and bumps everywhere! You're fortunate your JL keeps a good range.
Thank you for your feedback. I'm really starting to like the "Original" now I've seen it close up. The only thing I don't like is the pen loop, which will probably sage with age. But, as you know, I have a history of "dealing" with pen loops :-)
Love a filofax bought lots used for a couple of pounds each I like them for everything from junkies for writing stories. All the time I find them I will buy them.
I really enjoyed it. Sadly, shops are few and far between, and have a reduced range these days, but it was good to check out these binders in real life.
Thank for the feedback. Interesting, and encouraging. I may well get one sometime later this yer, but I'll probably buy a used model, which, as you say, may have better flatability.
@@Flatability If it helps, you may as well ebay these IMO. I've got a few, and the flatability is excellent - with a few sheets of paper only needed to sit really flat. I picked up a few for about £40 each (keep your eyes peeled!) and gave them a little shoepolish shine makeover (outside cover only). I'd say the brown ones are more enjoyable to use than the black ones - and I have two of each, so hope that gives a pre-buy sense.
There is a big downside, according to my local stationers. They got fed up of people coming in and handling all the organisers before then leaving and opting to buy online - not necessarily cheaper , but because the consumer wanted a pristine model. The shop organisers got so ‘mauled’ they often ended up unsaleable. Sadly the stationers has now closed down after many decades, because they could no longer compete with a certain online warehouse.
I agree that this might be a downside. The John Lewis display certainly encourages people to handle the binders, even to the extent that there are two spaces on which to rest the binders during "evaluation". However, there seemed to be plenty of boxed binders available that, presumably, haven't been "mauled". From a personal perspective, I would be more likely to buy an ex-demo binder at a discount, than a new one, so hopefully it's not too much of an issue for the store. Thanks for your input.
Just settled in with a mug of tea to watch your video and... it's over before I know it! What am I going to do for the other 15:33 of my lunch break? 😄 (p.s. A John Lewis in MK? 😮Whatever next?)
Oh wow...100% jealous. But thank you for letting us enjoy this shopping experience with you 😂 With the Norfolk, isn't it non leather?? So I don't think your sense of smell was failing you 😉 I love the look of the Heritage. I wonder if it's available in normal ring size, not compact??? I can't do any smaller rings 😮😂
You are so right! I buy mostly on-line now, though necessity, but it's so nice to be able to buy from a real life store. I try to do that as often as possible.
Yes, the Filofax original had complete flatability right out of the box. Nice!
Good to know! It's certainly the experience of quite a few owners who have got back to me about this binder.
Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.
This video radiates "kid in candy store" energy 😄

And i have this feeling, I'll be rewatching this a few times 😅😅

I love my Original - highly recommend!!
Thank you for your feedback.
So jealous that you can just walk into a store and play with the Filofaxes. I do appreciate hearing your thoughts on each. Still jealous! 😂
I agree. It was a real joy.
That looks like a great experience. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛

Heritages do get pretty good flatability with a little time. I have a couple and would say the brown ones seem nicer to the touch.

@@Flatability The good ones are buffalo leather. The others ... less good.
Interesting. Thank you.

Thanks for the tips.
ahh thanks for this run! I don't live in the UK so the store that stocks filofaxes here (that is not a webshop) is v hard to get to...
You're so welcome!
I have a 2021 A5 Malden Ochre. I don't know if it varies from color to color but mine's flatability is perfect!
Actually, I just remembered that the Ochre is made of Buffalo leather, so that might be it
That's good to know. If I were to buy one, that is the colour I would choose. Thank you for your feedback.

My apologies for the short video :-)
Only joshing mate, well done! 👍
Interesting. My husband has a second hand Heritage and it lies very flat. I love the Norfolk, but I do wish it had an option for smaller rings
Thanks for sharing!

This was a real joy for me, as I had not seen these models close up.
I’ll talk about this visit on during my next podcast.
@Flatability oh yes, to actually be able to look at ones you've possibly only seen on line, makes a huge difference!
@@Flatabilityoh I'll be looking forward to that 😃

Many leather items don’t have a leather smell. It’s modern tanning methods, sadly.
Very true!
