So glad to visited my town of Menlo. I moved here from Atlanta 8 years ago and live just NW of Menlo on the mountain. I appreciate you taking the time to spend some time here. I thought I would share some info on the area. (1) Where you first stopped in town at 2:16 (behind the logging trailer) is the path of the old train teach that once connected Menlo to Chattanooga and Birmingham. In the late 1800’s Peaches were transported via steam engine. (2) The A.J. Lawrence is still here and occupied today. It’s located a little further down Edison Street from where you turned at 11:10. (3) The large plant once was Best Manufacturing. A local glove manufacturer. The company was later purchased by a Japanese-owned company and the plant was closed. The US headquarters for this company is still in Menlo. (4) The concrete slab seen at the stop sign at 14:23 was once the train depot. As others has stated, most of the businesses are still operating along with all the churches. The Menlo Cafe is located next to the gas station. I wish you would have had time to talk to some of the locals. They are the nicest people I have ever met. I love living here and I am very happy to be a part of this community. Come back again soon.
Hello! I am from Menlo, and currently reside in Carrollton, GA. (I graduated from UWG twice) I figured out that you are from Carrollton? You need to come back on a Saturday morning to Ballard Hardware- it has been in my family for many years. The stories that you can hear, life experiences, and advice are invaluable. No, not all of the businesses in downtown Menlo are closed. During the week, the downtown life is very functional. Menlo is a city where you can get to know the people around you very well. Was this taken on a Sunday afternoon? Most of the citizens in Menlo are worshipping the Lord on Sunday mornings and take the time to spend time with family members on Sunday afternoon. I am very blessed and proud to be from Menlo. I work in Atlanta, GA now, and the life experiences I possess are quite different from many others. Please feel free to meet up with me on the Square here in town for Coffee- there have been very many successful people graduate from Menlo Elementary School, with such a unique perspective on life, that I would be more then happy to share!
I love it here on Lookout Mountain . I live right on the bluff . I work as a poll worker . Ballard's hardware has a skylight that was used for light before electricity I was told. Where you parked is where the elections are held. I moved from Birmingham where I lived most of my life working as a project manager for a fabricator.

I moved from Birmingham to Cloudland. The town is functional. The Menlo Cafe is great. Ballard's Hardware is great.
