I’ve been enjoying your videos Henry after only discovering them a couple of weeks ago.I used to windsurf in late 80s and 90s so these videos bring back some good memories. It’s a shame windsurfing lost its popularity as it’s still a great sport/hobby.
You definitely made the right call in aborting the return leg and put safety over pride. So easy to get into trouble on the sea, or any water for that matter and with compromised kit it’s just not worth taking the risk.

Nice video. I use to windsurf from calahot all the time but then a friend
introduce me to jetskiing and we go all the way around the IOW but never really went far windsurfing that's pretty mad

Good effort - it's all about being resourceful, whatever the outcome! Just joined HISC so will hopefully see you out on the water.

yeah, not really successful mission .. what about to organise 'round isle of wight' on windsurfer ? I mean in good wind conditions, open 'race', from dusk to down, no support, solo, ( I will attempt myself if no one interested ) . A bloody kite 'surfer' did it in 3 hrs or so I think on the windsurf anything between 6-12 hours should be achievable ....(just the right timing/logistic is a bit nightmare)

@@henrycartwright3673 hi, yes, sorry I did not mean to organise it as official race (that is next to impossible) - just an attempt to go around for anyone who may be interested doing it ( If there is anyone) - and I did not know you already completed this - great job - how long did it take and what where the conditions ?
I think it can turn out as a good longboard sailing challenge with beautiful views along the way or maybe a bit of nightmare, however if more than one person participate it should be much more fun than a solo trip..?

Wise choice to abort. Must have been a let down, but good of Matthew & Ptol to help.
