Episode 153 - Las Cruces, New Mexico

Our second trip through Las Cruces led us to visit Hatch, New Mexico the home to the famous Hatch Chili's, Silver City, Hurley, and Mesilla where Billy the Kid was tried and convicted of murder but escaped to later be shot and killed by Sherriff Pat Garrett. I love the history of the southwestern towns. These were the people of legend. While driving around the area, we found some very nice restaurants, and shops for locally made items.

You have missed so much. Go to dripping springs and hike. Lots to see in Las Cruces. Great community parks all around. Great food!!!! Go downtown! Hatch has great little gift shop. But some peppers.

I grew up in Las Cruces, 1967 to 1977 with return stints after college. All my relatives from Ohio and Illinois. Had family members from Ohio swear they had crossed over into Mexico after hitting the border patrol check station south of Hatch. Never actually made it to Cruces but all their lives thought they had been to Mexico once!
