Into The New World is literally Korea's second national anthem. And I'm not kidding, Koreans themselves consider ITNW their second anthem. GG's Power! Love that you're checking them out. Hope in this S2 or in the future you can check more 2nd gen groups!

"Welcome to my show it's a revolution, this is my Girls' Generation"
You've finally made it to the legends, the trendsetters, the nation's girl group, one of the reasons why K-Pop is what is it today. They've been around since 2007 and boy have they changed the game ever since! Into The New World is Korea' second national anthem, it's been used in pride parade, in political rallies, and even when Koreans took to the street to demand their former president step down. It's that song and the lyrics are really inspirational! And the reason why you noticed they really were nailing the choreography is because they kept practicing it for a whole year before they debuted. It's also a rite of passage for upcoming girlsgroups, pretty much every one train dancing to that song.
The girls debuted at a time where girlsgroups were seen as a joke, got to work and showed the world girlsgroups could perform just like the dudes, sell as many albums as them, and even so much more!
We have to thanks them for many things we know of today, like photocards, fancams and even the center position!
The girls are still together, even if they're now a 8 members group (Jessica left in 2014 for... reasons). Their last full comeback was in 2017 and they've been on hiatus ever since as the members all wanted to focus on their solo activities. But as we are nearing their 15th year anniversary next August, all SONEs hope for a comeback soon.
They have 2 sub-units ; TTS and Oh!GG you took a look at. Oh!GG is basically all the members still under SM, as Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun decided not to renew their contracts with the company, but are still GG members.
There's so much more to say about the girls, but then i'd be here all day. I thank you for giving our girls a listen, and I hope you'll want to discover more about them.

Hi Caitlin! Just to let you know Girls Generation has not disbanded, they acutally recently reunited as a group on a show to celebrate their anniversary. Although they haven't released any music together recently, they have stated that they are all wanting to focus on their individual careers for now and hope to make music together again soon. Wish you'd react to more of GG as they have done various genres and every song is amazing! Loved the reaction!!
and now it is announced that there will be a full comeback for their 15th Anniversary! ahhhh

@@markmark9238 i agree… SONE here too! Both groups are talented but let’s agree SNSD has the dance (arguable outside their own choreos bc of Minzy but title songs & group choreo? Snsd has it) and vocals while 2ne1 has the rap. They specialize in different styles/concepts and different genres too. Both groups are concept queens.Also… am i the only one who thinks that 2nd gen groups are all so unique that no one is better than the other but they’re the best in what genre they does best? SNSD, T-ara, KARA, 4minute, Wonder Girls, 2ne1, BEG, F(x), Miss A, Girls’ Day, Apink, Afterschool, Secret are all amazing!

in case people didn't know, Into the New World released in 2007 as SNSD's debut song. The song is still used by kpop agencies to train their female trainees because the song is difficult and the dance is also on the hard side. It's known fact that all GG could dance to this song (ofc the ones who went through korean training system). The song is used as anthem in the protests or march because its meaningful lyrics until now. The song is also become the anthem for LGBTQ+ community in South Korea until now. SNSD is the only GG who is able to beat top BG in terms of physical sales until now, beating BGs physical sales, such as TVXQ, Big Bang, Super Junior, SS501 etc. No GG able to achieve that yet after them. (hope other GG could achieve that too in the near future). At that time GG went through hard time because of sexism, unlike today. Even after almost 5 years of inactivity, SNSD still being chosen as the top GG in South Korea, they are always in the top 10. and also being chosen as Nation Girlgroup by SK general public (in which currently many think it's held by Twice's or Blackpink's now)

Girl group trainees basically study SNSD/Girls Generation like a textbook. They became the model that every company tried to replicate.

I got a boy is one of the songs who had the music genre known as the SM genre wherein you can hear like 3 or more songs in one song. They've done this a lot with their Kpop groups like NCT 127 cherry bomb, Aespa's next level, EXO's Tempo and many more.
if you got times to see all SNSD MV chronologically, you'll see that their songs and concepts match their age frame. You can literally see and feel th growth. I honestly, can only see that in SNSD. they also said it themselves, when asked why their songs was/is always a hit and it's because they always match their concepts with their age. They're living legend🔥🔥🔥
Girls' Generation is the Nation's Girl Group. SNSD has 9 members, one member left SNSD and SM in 2014. In 2017, three members left SM but remained as SNSD members. So, SM made a unit for the rest of members who still in SM. Oh!GG is their unit name. They didn't comeback since lil touch which made me sad. Now all of 9 members are working as solo artists, release solo songs and do acting (hope they will comeback as group). SNSD is like a big milestone of KPOP. Their songs really slap. SNSD is the first kpop group I know. They turned me into SM artists stan lol. The only group that i stan not in SM is SEVENTEEN, the rest are SM groups. I am a hardcore NCTzen and really enjoy your reaction videos. Can't believe you reacted to SNSD. Hope you dig into SNSD more in future. AND YES HE IS MINHO ^o^
They return as a group in August 2022 to celebrate their fifteenth year together. They got together regularly over their five-year hiatus, they just didn't record music as a group.

The impact that Into The World has is CRAZY!! Almost every girl group after SNSD has covered this song at least once in their career.
Girl's Generation was and is the biggest kpop girl group. They are the blue print for modern girl groups since they debuted when kpop as we know today was just emerging, no one knew how to play the game for ggs. The one and only Korea's NGG. Each member is a legend to k-industry and are still active. The impact and influence they had to what kpop is today, their songs are classics to koreans. Literal idols of idols.

Into the New World is kind of compulsory for trainees to rehearse with this song. You're right when you said it's hard to perform this live, but back in the days, SNSD used to perform live with this, no backing track, just pure vocals, and they killed it.

Okay so it’s a bit complicated OH-GG is a subunit of girls generation(SNSD) and are also the last of the girls generation members actually under SM (Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Yoona, Yuri, and Sunny) though the other members are under different companies and doing solo projects they still say they are still in SNSD. SONEs(the fans) have been thinking we may get a comeback with all the members next year. So it’s been no official disbandment they are just not promoting as a group rn, hopefully we’ll get to see them as a whole again soon! Also good job that was Taeyeon you spotted in Into the New World.
ITNW is a super impactful song about overcoming hardships and reaching your goals and setting new ones. It’s especially important to South Korea often being used in protests and parades there. Songs like ITNW are what deemed SNSD as “Nations Girl Group” in Korea. Very famous song almost all girl group trainees have had to cover it before debut bc of the rigorous choreo and high notes. I believe it actually came out in 2007 but just like Shinee videos were uploaded to TH-cam in later years.
Also the live performances of all these songs are crazy especially the ballad version of into the new world and I got a boy at the KBS Dream concert in 2013 (the crowd was so hype) have fun checking those out in your free time.

In all my years of being a SONE (Girls' Generation's fandom), I did not see a reaction video from someone breaking into Girls' Generation that is as fun to watch as yours. And I am really happy as to how appreciative you are of the their music and how they have grown over the years, so a big, big, big THANK YOU for that.
I also don't usually comment on reaction videos, so for me to do this is a big deal for me.
The biggest part about your reaction video was me laughing my ass off, especially when I saw that you were going to react to I Got A Boy. I was like, "Oh boy, she's going to be in a ride of her life!". And you did. Many people get totally thrown off by the switch-ups and whatnot, and seeing that IGAB was in 2013, it was one of the major breakthroughs in K-pop.
Slight correction though: Girls' Generation debuted in 2007, so Into the New World was in 2007. SM just uploaded the video in 2011. And yes, it being such an iconic song even today that it is a standard K-pop song that girl groups have trained with and have made covers of it is a dream come true for the producers and songwriters.
And yes, that was Minho from SHINee in Gee. And also check out the Japanese version of Gee. Minho's back in it as well. Fun fact: In the Japanese version of SHINee's Replay, Girls' Generation's YoonA is there. And in Sherlock, former Girls' Generation member Jessica was there was well. And while I'm on the subject of cross-overs, another Girls' Generation subunit called TaeTiSeo's debut in 2012 Twinkle featured members of EXO in the MV: Kai, Sehun, Baekhyun, and Chanyeol.
BTW, Oh-GG! is another subunit as well aside from TaeTiSeo. It is comprised of Girls' Generation members who are still signed with SM Entertainment. Three members left the company in 2017 and went on to sign with other entertainment companies, but they are still on the active roster of the group. So yeah, they're not disbanded, only on hiatus as a group. Each member is still active with their individual activities in music, acting, endorsements, etc.
I hope you get to react to the individual music content that each member had put up as well, just so that you can see how much they progressed from their group stuff. You could most likely start with Taeyeon's, as she has the most individual music content. And she is versatile as heck.
Pity that the copyright issues would prevent you from reacting to other group MVs, but I would highly recommend as well "Tell Me Your Wish", "Run Devil Run", "You Think", and "All Night", for starters.
My sone heart is so full seeing you reacting to Girls' Generation. They are my first kpop Stan group and I keep on smiling all throughout. Hope you could react to everyone's solo songs someday.

Girls' Generation's 'Into the New World' was their debut song and yes, you're right that is very iconic~ the song became an empowerment song used for various movements/protest in Korea to promoted change, equality, freedom, etc.

When I Got A Boy being release, it is literally shock the whole Kpop where people doesnt know what kind genre is this song. All of the musicians and critics literally argue what kind of this song is😂 but ended that it is SMP where it is SM speciality when it comes to mixed many types of genre in one song since 2005 (the first song for SMP is Rising Sun by DBSK if im not mistaken). And in 4th generation of Kpop, many agency try to be the first agency in terms of mixed genre in one song when in fact SM start it way back in 2005. Everyone got really crazy about how SM make a smooth transation between a different genre in a song. Yes, thats SM for you❤️

So glad you’re digging them! Yes, Taeyeon is the one with the high note at the end of the bridge in Into the New World and the one with the aviator goggles.
This song is still really relevant in South Korea. Not only is it used in girl group survival shows all the time, it’s actually used as a political protest song. They play it during #Metoo movement protests as well as gay pride parades and after the impeachment of the South Korean president. It really is a special song.
And yes that is Minho! A lot of SM artists show up in each other videos. For instance the girl at 5:10, 18:11, and 27:31? That’s Jessica- she was the disappearing ghost girl in Shinee’s “Sherlock”.

SNSD is the true ace of KPOP. The new gen fans will never know. No matter what new achievements the new groups have, those who were lucky enough to live through KPOP with SNSD knows the real deal. 1. She doesn’t control her face expression - if she likes it, she vibes hard. If she doesn’t, she say it honestly.
2. She’s studying about song writing and composing if I’m not mistaken so she can actually explain in certain parts why we like it sooo much.
3. She freaked out the way the fandom does (even if she’s not a fan of that group yet) - so yeay I’m not the only one having nosebleed and shortness of breath whenever our favs make a comeback.

I got a boy is known as the bohemian rhapsody of kpop. The first kpop song to have like 4 different songs in one.
Also they are so iconic cause during a time when bgs were dominating charts the only gg you would see is them. They are the nations gg. They sadly haven’t had a cb in 5 years but some of them are still at sm and do solo work. They said whenever everyone is free they would love to do a comeback so finger crossed for one soon

Girls Generation is the textbook for all Girl Groups today, they were like the final key needed for the general public to appreciate and accept Girl Groups. Though it wasn’t instant, they grew so fast and was one of the first few kpop groups who pushed for kpop in America.

okay, first of all i'm an old lady, so i love seeing you give some 2nd gen groups some love lol. and snsd has so many great songs, omg - i hope nobody's giving you grief about the mv's you picked, because even if you limited yourself to just the songs that were next-level-cultural-reset-hits, you'd still have enough material to do a whole series of reaction videos.
second: to be totally honest, i didn't like 'i got a boy' the first time i heard it. all the switch-ups completely overwhelmed my brain, it was like i didn't know how to listen to it. but the more i heard it (which was inescapable, because it was beyond huge when it came out) the more it started to make sense to me, and now i genuinely believe it's a pop masterpiece.
Re watching all of their mvs, really makes me like a proud mom. lol. I'm just so happy for what they have come now and what they achieve individualy. I love these girls very much!!!
One of their most iconic performances of I Got A Boy was on Dream Concert 2013. Literally the entire venue were singing alongside and you can barely listen to the girls

GG or SNSD is the reason why i like kpop.... It all started when i was in 5th grade and they just had a comeback song called the boys. That comeback was soo powerful few agencies has to postponed their groups debut/comeback, they scared that they couldn't compete with GG. That's how powerful they are!

Also it's double funny, Jessica's "Let's bring it back to 140" Because that's not ONLY the BPM of the section, but also the timer of the song where the 140BPM section kicks in for the first time. xD Also Lil Touch is the 5 remaining members that stayed under SM Ent. after SNSD's contracts ended. Taeyeon, Yuri, Yoona, Hyoyeon, and Sunny.

Also Oh!GG is a sub-unit of SNSD/GG (the other main one I encourage you to check out is TaeTiSeo /SNSD-TTS) Please do check out the other work and 100% their live performances, I promise you won't be disappointed!!!
Oh and SNSD/GG is "officially" on hiatus. Oh!GG is still under SM, but four of the original nine (known by the fandom as OT9) are doing other projects/things under other companies and labels. They recently reunited (eight of them / OT8) and people were losing their minds.

Hey Caitlin, thanks for reacting to Nation's Girl Group, the Legends, and Only Girls' Generation. They are not disbanded. Actually, they are initiated of the 'not disbanded group' despite some members aren't in the same agency anymore. Originally, Girls' Generation have 9 members but in 2014 Jessica left. So, they continued with 8 members. After the member contract ended with SM in 2017, 3 of them decided to leave SM but they are still in Girls' Generation and the rest 5 are still in SM and made the sub-unit, Oh!GG with Lil' Touch as their debut single.
They are a versatile group, always bringing new energy in every comeback. It feels like reacting to four of their MV isn't enough to fully know what they're trying to bring or why/how they become LEGENDS until now. So, I recommend you to react more to their music haha :). I guarantee it's worth your time.

Into the new world was THE song. It’s used in basically (almost) every company’s audition songs for female trainees. Almost every girl group has/have had cover(ed) this song in their early days or later on during their career. It’s just THAT song. That’s how powerful “Into the New World” is. And until this day , there hasn’t been a song that could replace it.

Girls' Generation members first lost a member, Jessica in 2014 (long story). Then, a couple years later, Seohyun, Sooyoung and Tiffany decided to leave SM Entertainment while the other 5 stayed with SM. That 5 members (Taeyeon, YoonA, Hyoyeon, Sunny, Yuri) become Oh!GG. They never disband and the 3 members that left still say that they are with GG. They actually have a comeback not long ago for their 15th anniversary called Forever 1!
