What a fantastic Girl...and Mom Too.....Kudos to BOTH for being genuinely humble!! It's contagious!! Cheers Everyone and Thank you Bill On The Road for sharing this video!
Thankyou for sharing your story Willow. You are exactly the great little country gal i expected and so grounded and talented. And i think you have a wonderful mom too. :)
Awesome!!She is an Angel and that place is Awesome!! I would give my everything to spend a day there.Best region in the whole world!! Godspeed to you!!
I always assumed you were from a well heeled family and given all the best help (which clearly you have). To know you earned that support from your teacher is something to be proud of. My son who is 12 was busking here in NZ when a very talented blues played heard him playing the blues. He has been teaching him ever since. Like you he is very talented and like you he works very hard at it. We love it, he has filled our home with music every day. You are a gift to making Willow, thank you.
What an amazing story! I hope she keeps making music until she's 100 years old or more! And tons of credit for all those who support her, especially her mom!
The video of Willow playing and singing reminds me of a family car trip from Cent. Michigan (where I lived at the time - 1958) to north western Illinois (near Debuque, Iowa). My grandpa was with us. Along the way, an old folk song came on the car radio, named The Mule Skinner Blues, briefly popular at the time. Joe, my father's father, was singing along with it and laughing. That recorded version's popularity was as an oddball 'novelty' song, mainly due to how it was sung (with more gusto than Willow's style, and not corny like the 1958 record). Urban/'city' people then (and now) don't realize that "mule skinner" doesn't mean someone who "skins" dead mules; it means someone who is a mule tender, handler, or occasionally rider, not a mule killer.
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing Willow! Your energy, dedication, confidence and work shows, your humble attitude and amazing talent is a pleasure to watch! It's an honor to be a fan! And what an amazing Mom, take care of Willow, Mom, she's a Gem!! Loved the interview as well!
Willow...Let me talk to you like a GrandPa...You have a gift given to you..My Daddy played the banjo. He learned how to play on his own, much like most of the people from the south. He spent hours showing me how to play, and I also learned too. God gives us all gifts..yours is that banjo. Stay in it, and make it to the top..You be better than Earl Scruggs, and make us all proud. Always remember to give God thanks for what he's done for you...Love you in Christ..

Impressive to see someone making a living in her chosen life's work by the age of 13. Most people these days have no idea what they want to do by their mid-30s. -jcr
