Me and my family took a lot of flights on Northwest, when it was known as Northwest Orient Airlines going as far back as 1957. Much of my DC-9 flights were on Eastern Airlines (a LOT of flights). I miss the DC-9s and I miss Northwest Orient and Eastern Airlines its why I watch these TH-cam vids.
Brings back fond memories of many a flight on a “Nine” with my dear departed parents in the 1970s-1980s. I remember in the 70s especially having to trade my jeans and t-shirts for a jacket and tie, because that’s what everyone did in those days.
Love the Diesel-9 Series 30! They look great and sound great too, what's not to love?? Especially when it's a "turn-N-burn" takeoff! Thanks for the video my friend.
I really enjoyed this! The taxi to the runway at MSP rivals AMS where you land in Belgium and taxi to The Netherlands. That was the butteriest of butter landings at ORD!
It’s refreshing to see a landing where the pilot isn’t over controlling the crap out of the controls. Sure maybe it was relatively calm wind for this arrival, but there are times where the throttle is constantly going up and down and the flight controls are all over the place. This guy literally set the power and let the plane just fly on in. Very smooth and nothing overly dramatic whatsoever.
@16:16 the engines goes full power. @17:00 the plane finally takes off. Today it is not uncommon for planes to take longer than that before they take off
Wow!!! What a great Full Flight on the 9! Thank you for preserving the memory of these great aircraft! All the best!!!
Love the sound of those DC-9-30 engines!
Love the sound of the thrust reverse! Thanks for posting. Awesome sound!
Hell yeah, DC-9!
Great old bird, if you ask me!

A few of those Eastern DC-9's (and 727's) ended up flying for NWA after Eastern went belly up...
Thanks for sharing this classic footage! Nice seeing all the NW stuff in MSP and ORD.

Why did you trade your jeans and t shirt for dress clothes?

Excellent job with the camera capturing gate to gate!
