    I have a question: so in question 2 you mentioned that oliguria occurs as a result of decreased CO, however in question 1 you mentioned that their UOP should still be normal. can you please clarify if oliguria with a patient in heart failure is expected or unexpected?

    • @ladygadventures4144
      @ladygadventures4144 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was confused as well because I thought it’s asking left sided heart failure so it will back up to the lungs which is the pulmonary edema , crackles, and dec. oxygen saturation level. Oliguria? I don’t see it to be part because is not backing up to he lungs. Please please help. THANKS

    • @mackenziegreener8678
      @mackenziegreener8678 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm confused on this also!! I always associated left sided HF with symptoms related to the lungs. And she did say that urine output isn't always decreased with heart failure, someone please clarify!!!

    • @Jude1013
      @Jude1013 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, L-sided does back-up into the lungs. But also, since the blood is backing up into the lungs, it means that blood is not properly leaving the heart.
      Say 20% is leaving the heart and not the normal 60%.
      So if only 20% leaves the heart, and (she said that 25% of the blood that leaves the heart goes straight for the kidneys), then the patient would only have 5% of their blood being filtered in the kidneys now.
      It used to filter 15% of blood, when the patient didnt have HF and had 60% leaving.
      So basically that would lead to low urinary output if it is left sided HF.
      I hope I helped. Idk if the Dr will msg back, so I figured I would jump in lol

      Aldosterone will cause water retention therefore increasing blood volume.
