I am building a home with three shipping containers. I am furring out the exterior with 2 x 4 Metal Studs preparing for spray foam insulation. There are areas where I cannot fasten with tech screws so welding is a must. I have a Lincoln 225 and I also have a small, meg wire feed but I prefer the stick welding. I know I have to grind away the paint to clean the services. I just wasn’t familiar with the type of stick or the amperage. Thank you very much for your reply. I will start there.

can you share your experience/knowledge for the following: 12ga metal stud to exterior mild steal shipping container...type of rod and amperage? Please and thank you

So I don’t have a lot of experience with shipping containers but if it’s similar to structural 12 gauge studs I would probably go with 3/32” 7018 but run it low, like 65-70 amps. Do you have a welding procedure to follow?
