Completely agree about the marketing gimmick. Why make such a deal about VistaVision when 99 percent of the audience will see this on an average theater screen, on their flat screen at home or in some other compressed format, and not at an IMAX or 70mm presentation in a legacy cinema,. It's kinda goofy and annoyingly self referential. You're spot on with everything else about the film, too.

It was not shot 'square' (I assume you meant 1.33:1) but 1.66:1, but yeah it's probably the least interesting thing about it

Apologies. Faulty memory. Working at a movie theater, I should know better. Not sure why my mind recalled it as a less wide film.
