Great video. First time on your channel. I do have to say, this is actually NASCAR racing. They did film footage of some real NASCAR races including Daytona.
Oof! Thanks for the clarification!
have you watched twilight of the warriors walled in if so can you do a review
Definitely appreciate you saying at the beginning “congrats on accomplishing a film, distribution, etc.”, a lot of people don’t get it. Thanks for checking it out ❤
Sounds awful :(
Thanks for your civil review, though you didn't like the film. I would like to share a couple of thoughts. This is a micro-budget production -- you either meet it on its own terms or risk bringing unfair or even misjudged reactions. At a budget barely $8000, and a six-day shooting schedule (one second unit evening), our limitations are obvious. Complaining that an elevator -- in a building that was chosen because it was period correct -- because you noticed braile markings is not terribly fair. Nor understanding that on a break-neck schedule an inappropriate haircut on an actor who'd agreed to get his hair cut and showed up otherwise is the kind of the thing that just happens on a micro production. That the private eye's office is big is obviously because the visions are being played out there -- but it's clearly an area that includes a reception desk and two P.I. desks. It's a noir fantasy that takes place largely in one person's mind. The level of acting reflects a large cast (24) that for a movie like this is admittedly variable, but the top four or five performances (amount of script time) are professional level (the two leads are pros who work a lot in this region). The cast consists of pro, pro-am and, yes, community theater talent. We've been blessed with some very good reviews that often acknowledge the low-budget and limitations of the production, but admire the script and the effort on a micro-budget. Your reaction is understandable, perhaps fair, and you were not, as I say, unkind; I'd even characterize it as thoughtful. And you acknowledge it's hard to make a movie. I would add: particularly when you have a budget that goes to actors, set building and limited costumes. That doesn't make it not worth doing.
I greatly appreciate the insight!
Such a good film hope it gets released in the UK
Just watched it, I am now transformed, and all that with zero calories. But forreal, tho, excellent film, I'm glad you liked it too.
I've been on the fence on whether I should blind buy. It seems like it might be worth it just based on extras alone including the CD soundtrack.
The soundtrack is cool and has a couple of bonus tracks, which may be cues not used in the film. Definitely an interesting packagage overall, and loaded.
Hi Mark, Since you work at the Mahoning Drive-In and I heard him interviewed in a podcast from there, I'm guessing your friend at the show that night is named "Geoff". -he's my friend, too and I know him from CineSea, the film convention in the movie. He's a great guy! I really hope you're right about "Film is Dead. Long Live Film!" being destined for Blu-Ray. I would love to see it on my own screen a couple of times per year! Peter Flynn is a regular joiner at CineSea and he showed us a working print, back when it was called "Viva Film!".
Peter says Bayview is set to release a Blu-ray and/or DVD early in 2025! And yes, Geoff is a good pal!
Re: Blu-Ray, I am so there! It was on TCM a few days ago, but we had to miss it because I would have had to pay Verizon a ton of extra cash every month to have the service upgraded. I wanted to go to the show you attended: I know a lot of those people who who were also there, but unfortunately I couldn't. Geoff is kind of a Ninja in the World of Film collecting! I do Super-8 and 16, but Geoff does 16 and 35!
agree one of my fav horror movies of all time
Anthony Hopkins DID receive a Best Actor award for playing in a "horror movie" SO yeah, I'd also love to see Hugh Grant get some kinda nomination for his work here, riveting!
Saw it in the theatre originally, not since… but I remember liking it.. pre ordered it.. on the way…woohoo
Great movie! It's been a while since I've seen it. Just order the 4k to do a rewatch.
How did the new transfer compare to the 35 mm screening? This one could have easily been Coen-esque, but I think Raimi intentionally stayed away from black humor to avoid such comparisons. Perhaps it would have been more palatable and ultimately successful had he done so. Raimi certainly has a sense of humor.
New transfer looks great, as did the print I saw.
Seems like a good movie but unfortunately it looks like it should have been on a streaming service. There has been very little marketing push for it via ads or online presence. I won't pay the $18;per person when I will pick up the physical release in most likely a month.
Thanks for the recommendation, Mark. I'm gonna have to check this one out.
I have the movie it's a great comedy adventure I laughed in many parts in the movie loved it dearly to bad there's no movie sound track such buetiful music it should be on CD sadly all the the good music doesn't excist anymore I recommend everyone to watch the movie, thier more good movies women times seven bedazzled with Peter cook and Dudley Moore also they finally made kiss the girls and and make them dy thank for posting this video
P.O. BOX TINTO BRASS
Coming next???
Happy Ghostwatch has found an audience in the USA. I remember watching it when it aired on BBC 1 on Halloween in 1992. I was 13 years old, and was just getting into horror. I knew it wasn't real, but the outrage it caused was phenomenal. It was in the media, people were genuinely took in by it. It was never repeated again and still has never been repeated on British television. In 2002 the BFI released it on dvd and I bought it. Watching it again after ten years, I appreciated it as more of a drama piece and it does have it's scary moments. I also noticed Pipes in the background more than I can originally remember. Of course, when 101 films released the blu I had to get it as well. I'm a big fan of Ghostwatch and believe it or not it was nominated for a BAFTA, but the BBC pretended it never happened! Glad you like it and hope it becomes popular and appreciated in the USA
I was hoping this was more of a review of the 4K versus the Blu-ray that I already owned, but the guy doesn’t even know there was a Blu-ray so OK lol
I was only sent a 4K copy by the company to review, so can't really compare. The new Arrow edition has new extras not found on previous releases.

DFFD Blog, by Salvi C., June 22, 2011, Movie Review: ‘Mondo New York’---The summer of 1989 found a commercial in heavy rotation on the local “alternative” radio station. WFNX was playing the bejeezus out of a spot for a movie called “Mondo New York.” It started out as a backbeat-heavy thing, interspersed with quotes from the film, but then a very familiar riff came roaring out. “Holy Cow - is that the DICTATORS??” was my reaction the first time I heard it. Close enough, it was actually the debut recording on Manitoba’s Wild Kingdom, with an un-credited RTB on lead, blasting their way through “New York, New York.” The very cool radio spot played incessantly for 2 weeks, leading up to the movie’s debut weekend. Which, by the way, was also its closing weekend. The reviews for the film were uniformly savage, with “pointless, pretentious, and puerile” being my favorite, and pretty much chased the flick out of town and into oblivion, where it’s remained for the last 20 or so years. Rumors of the film containing some footage of our boys went unconfirmed. I recently saw a VHS copy on Amazon, and thought to myself, “Well, the reviews were terrible, and the soundtrack LP was worthless. But the commercial was great, so surely the film it came from has to have some small degree of merit, right? Right?” Well, $20 later, I’m here to tell you that MNY is every bit as putrid as the critics said it was. MNY is a kissing cousin to “Jabberwalk,” in the respect that it presents a series of vignettes that purport to represent the cool and the crazy from the NYC of its era. Judging from the contents of the film, 1989’s NYC was 99% populated by performance artists. There is nothing lower on the artistic food chain than performance artists. OK, an argument could be made for mimes, or maybe Celine Dion. Performance art is like broccoli, in that it gets served up frequently under the guise of being good for you. If not done exactly right, then it’s either horrible, or horribly bland. MNY has an overabundance of both types. Yams, headless mice, and unwanted nudity for as far as the eye can see. Put it back on, baby. MNY has exactly 2 redeeming features going for it. The first is the extremely cute actress Shannah Laumeister, whose wandering from place to place serves as the narrative thread for the film. The other is at the 80 min mark, where we’re treated to a truncated live version of MWK’s “New York, New York,” which provides the soundtrack for a minute or so of pointless footage of the kids in the pit slam-dancing. Memo to the director: Gee, did it ever cross your mind to point the camera AT THE BAND??? “Mondo New York” is 83 minutes of my life that I’ll never have back. Make sure you have plenty of hot water before watching this, because once you’re done you will need a bath, and your VCR will need a douche. And don’t call me Shirley.- Salvi C.
Its so bad but its good and I enjoyed it!
Thanks for making this video! I was thinking of buying the 4k UHD release of Flying Clipper. The monkey sold me, I didn't even need to finish the video to confirm I was buying this release. lol Cheers
Obligatory egghead comment
I love the Tinto Brass films. I've got the first three 4k's. All Ladies do it, Frivolous Lola and Cheeky. I was wondering your thoughts on which Tinto film you think they might release next.
I don't have any inside skinny, but hoping for PAPRIKA or THE KEY.
Yes I'm hoping for Paprika too @cinemaniacstv
Anyone 45 years old and grew up watching this?
Heavy rotation on HBO.
They say IT wasnt remastered and that the resolution sucks is that true?
I don't know about how recently it was remastered, but it looked good on my big 4K TV. I'll usually say something if the image quality is sub-par, and that didn't occur to me with this one.
Keep up your good work
Movie kicks ass The guy from kung fu hustle is the best character haha
Had this in my hand an hour ago but put it back on the shelf as I had no idea if I'd enjoy them. Nice video and info. Thank you
Hiii.... Have u ever heard about.... Sardar udham.... 2021????
Wasn't the guy that plays homelander from the boys in there
It wasn’t for eggheads. More like Coppola in knucklehead mode. Or maybe without an egghead like Puzo, Coppola was a knucklehead all along. It was a sad discovery for me.
gud one..
thanks for malayalam review sir...
How did you get Killers a week before the release date?
The companies send me review copies ahead of release date so I have time to watch and prep a review before they hit the streets. Some I get a week or less ahead of the date, some a month.
@cinemaniacstv Awesome. By the way which ending does this version of Killers have?
@@slipknotfan4204 Not sure...haven't gotten to it yet.
Hoooooo dawgies indeed. Such a beautiful bad film I just didn't want to end ^^
Kinda sad that the guy had to fund the entire movie himself to make something for the "thinking person." Not enough eggheads out there to make a profit I guess.
Finally someone taking the effort to see indian/ malayalam films rather than do a lazy trailer reaction and trying to get views. Great work. I hope you explore more of malayalam cinema because its like the A24 of hollywood .
I'm excited to see more, indeed. A whole new world for me that I'm loving.
New to me and I am a samurai enthusiast (think I read about their mentions before but never found them available). I'm in.
Blu-ray?
Not in the US. I'm out of the loop on where to import physical media copies from India.
@@cinemaniacstv barely anything gets a physical media release in India..
it seems that most Indian movies that release in the states are gone after one week. that's too bad.
It’s a real shame, as I want to tell friends to go see these films, but they’re all out of theaters days after I see them. Luckily most of them end up on Netflix or Prime.
Hmm! Men too.
The problem with Twisters is it looks like a tv movie with great effects.
Talk To Me looked fresh in the way they dabble in the occult that's realistically frightening.
By the end you'll be saying Bloody Stupid Teen-agers.
I'm glad they released a special edition of Battle For The Planet Of The Apes. The extra footage brings it full circle. I think they cut it with intentions of yet another sequel. It even has future director John Landis in it.
Something Weird put out a lot of slap and tickle oddball movies. Something Weird and Kiss Me Quick have to be seen to be disbelieved. Have you stumbled on them yet Mark?
In Something Weird, a guy gets attacked by his bedsheet. Kiss Me Quick is about an alien whose never seen a naked woman. Over an hour later we've seen enough naked women. Yikes!
Love your reviews Mark. You make everything sound exciting.
